Actions preferences

Use Nintex RPA LE Preferences to adjust the default preferences for many action An instruction within a botflow. fields when creating botflows.

Example: The Click action has the option to Bypass the mouse for a faster click in a botflow task. By default, this option is not selected. If you know that you will be regularly using this option when creating botflows, use the Click preference to set Nintex Bot to bypass the mouse for a faster click. This preference will save you time when using the Click action and provide consistent use when you are using the Click action to create botflows.

Set Action preferences

  1. Click Account from the Nintex RPA LE Menu Bar.
  2. Click Preferences in the Account Panel.

    3. The Preferences window displays.

  3. Click Actions.
  4. Click the Action for which a preference should be set.

    5. The available preference settings are defined in Action preferences below.

  5. Click OK to save the changes.

Clear Variable General

  • Clear: Select the Clear Variable behavior from the drop-down list:
    • All selected variables: Clears all selected variables in the list.
    • All except selected variables: Clears all unselected variables in the list.
    • All variables: Clears all variables in the list.
Click

The Bypass the mouse for a faster click option increases the speed of your botflow, if supported by the target application.

Nintex RPA LE uses your mouse to click a target. Enabling the Bypass the mouse for a faster click option clicks the target without using the mouse. Applications responding to changes submitted by an actual mouse click will not support the Bypass the mouse for a faster click option. Perform the Click action in the botflow to confirm the expected actions are made by the Click action. Clicks resulting in a pop-up window are not supported.

If the selected target is a check box, you will have the option of choosing how the check box is displayed.

  • Click to Check: Selects the check box if it is unchecked.
  • Click to Uncheck: Clears the check box if it is checked.
  • Click to Toggle: Selects the check box if it is unchecked or clears the check box if it is checked.

  • Overwrite: Select the check box to overwrite a list with the same name.

    • Options (File & Folder List)

  •  Retrieve: Select to retrieve files, folder, or both files and folder from the drop-down list.
    • Files: Retrieve a list of file names only (exclude folders).
    • Folders: Retrieves a list of folder names only (exclude files).
    • Files & Folders: Retrieves a list of both file names and folder names.
  • Folder: Type the folder location or click the folder icon and browse to the folder location.
  • Include subfolders: Select the check box to include subfolders in the Create List action.
    • Limit depth: Type in the number of subfolder levels to include or use the up and down arrows to increase or decrease the number.
  • Ignore inaccessible folders: Select the check box to ignore inaccessible folders.
  • Include Hidden items: Select the check box to include hidden files.
  • Include System items: Select the check box to include system items.
  • Filter: Select the check box to type filter criteria. Example: To filter for Microsoft Excel files, a file filter may look something like ".xlsx, .csv, .xls, .xlsm."
Create List Column

General

  • Add column: Select the column type from the drop-down list:
    • as lastcolumn: Creates a column at the end of the list.
  • Column name: Type a column name in the field or use the Expression Builder to build the action settings using variables or other token values.
Create List Row

General

  • Add row: Select the row type from the drop-down list:
    • as first row: Creates a row at the top of the list.
    • as last row: Creates a row at the bottom of the list.
    • as row number: Inserts a row at a specified place in the list.
  • Count: Type the number of rows in the field or use the Expression Builder to build the action settings using variables or other token values.

  • Name: Type the variable name in the Name field.

    • Clean: Removes all non-printing characters for selected columns.
    • Left: Returns a specified number of characters from the left side of a string. The Left formula builder is located in the Expression Builder at Formula > Text > Left.
      • Length: Type any length value in the Length field or use the Expression Builder to build the action settings using variables or other token values.
    • LeftOf: Returns the text to the left of a specified value. The LeftOf formula builder is located in the Expression Builder at Formula -> Text -> LeftOf.
      • End value: Enter a value in the End value field or use the Expression Builder to build the action settings using variables or other token values.
    • Replace: Replaces a specified part of a string with another string. The Replace formula builder is located in the Expression Builder at Formula -> Text -> Replace.
      • Find: Enter a value in the Find field or use the Expression Builder to build the action settings using variables or other token values.
      • Replace with: Enter a value in the Replace with field or use the Expression Builder to build the action settings using variables or other token values.

      • Delimiter: Select the required delimiter for the file.
        • Comma: Inserts a comma delimiter.
        • Pipe: Inserts a pipe delimiter.
        • Semicolon: Inserts a semicolon delimiter.
        • Space: Inserts a space as a delimiter.

    Send Email General

    Note: Multiple field entries must be separated by a semi-colon, comma, or pipe character.

    • To: Type an email address or email addresses into the field or use the Expression Builder to build the action settings using variables or other token values.
    • CC: Type a copy email address or email addresses into the field.
    • Bcc: Type a blind copy email address or email addresses into the field.
    • Reply to: Type a reply to email address or addresses into the field.
      Used when the reply should go to someone other than the sender.

    • Subject: Type a subject into the Subject field.

    • Attachment: Type the attachment location in the Attachment field.

    • Message: Type a message into the Message field.
    • Priority: Select to send the email priority from the drop-down list:

      • Normal: No special attention.
      • High: Requires urgent attention.
      • Low: Informational only.

    • Format: Select the email format from the drop-down list:

      • Plain text: Works for all email programs but does not display fonts, colors, or pictures.
      • HTML: Email message displays fonts, colors, and pictures.
    Send List

    General

    • Include Headers: Select the check box to include the headers for the sent list.
    • Include "Item No" column: Select the check box to include the Item Number column from the sent list.
    • Change case: Select the check box to change the case of the contents of the sent list.
      • Upper: All text will be uppercase.
      • Lower: All text will be lowercase.
      • Proper: The first letter of each word will be uppercase.
    • Remove spaces: Select the check box to remove spaces from the contents of the sent list.
      • Leading & Trailing: Removes any leading or trailing spaces from the contents of the sent list.
      • Leading: Removes any leading spaces from the contents of the sent list.
      • Trailing: Removes any trailing spaces from the contents of the sent list.
      • All: Removes all spaces from the contents of the sent list.
    Send Value

    General

    • Bypass the keyboard: This setting displays when the target displays in a browser window. This setting can increase the speed of your Botflow when supported by the target application.

      Note: Nintex RPA LE sends data to a field using the keyboard. Bypass the keyboard sends the information without the physical keyboard. Some applications only respond to changes submitted by an actual keyboard. These applications will not support Bypass the keyboard. To determine if your target application supports this feature, perform the action and confirm that changes have been made.

    • Click before sending: Clicks the target before sending the data to the target. Use when the target application requires focus to the target before sending data, such as when the target application requires first putting the cursor into a text box before typing into that text box.
    • Tab after sending: Sends a Tab command after the value is sent. Some target applications require a tab command to move the cursor out of a field before the data is saved.

    Format

    • Change case: Changes the sent value to None, Upper, Lower, or Proper case.
    • Remove spaces: Removes None, Leading & Trailing, Leading, Trailing, or All spaces from sent values.

    Keystrokes

    • Mode: Sets the mode of the sent value.
      • Overwrite: Clears any existing text in the target before sending the value.
      • Append: Moves the cursor to the end and adds the value to the end of the existing value.
      • Insert in front: Moves the cursor to the beginning and adds the value to the beginning of the existing value.
      • None: Does not clear the existing value. The value is sent to the location of the target's cursor.
    • Speed: Sets the speed of the sent values.
      • Auto: Recommended
      • Very fast
      • Fast
      • Medium
      • Slow
      • Very slow
      • Slowest: A noticeable pause precedes keystrokes, which are sent at an extremely slow rate.

        • Note: When the keyboard speed is set to Auto, Nintex RPA LE attempts to adapt the keystroke speed to the target application. Navigational keys (such as Tab, Enter, and Right Arrow) are sent using Nintex RPA LE smart speed technology, causing botflows to be more reliable.
        A consistent delay is added between each keystroke when using Very Fast, Fast, Medium, Slow, Very Slow, or Slowest. Slowest causes a noticeable delay between keystrokes, which are sent at an extremely slow rate and is needed in rare cases.
