Save List

Using the Save List action, you can save lists from:

  • A list of imported data.
  • Within a list in a botflow.

Some examples of applications for the Save List action are:

  • Saving a list created in the Nintex Bot Botflow Pane.
  • Saving an existing list of items extracted from a list created using the Create List action.

Add a Save List action to a botflow

This example provides the steps necessary to add a Save List action to a botflow.

To add a Save List action to a botflow:

  1. On the Actions List, click Lists and then click Save List from the List list.

    2. The Action Builder window for Save List displays.

  2. Set the Save List settings.

    3. General

    • List: Type a source list name in the List field.
    • Save as: Select the list file save as option from the drop-down.
    • Overwrite: Select the check box to overwrite a file or variable with the same name.

    Options: Select the delimiter option for Delimited, Text, or Variable files.

      • Delimiter: Select the required delimiter for the file.

  3. If needed, adjust the Run Error Task settings to fine tune how the action runs.
  4. If needed, adjust the Run Switch setting to create the action without running it.
  5. Optionally, add an action note.
  6. Click OK to add the Save List action to the botflow.

Save List Options/Settings

General

  • List: Type a source list name in the List field, select a list from the drop-down, or use the Expression Builder to build the action settings using variable or other token values.
  • Save as: Select the list file save as option from the drop-down:
    • Access File (*.accdb): Saves the list file to a Microsoft Access database file. Type a file name in the Save as field, select a file from the folder icon, or use the Expression Builder to build the action settings using variable or other token values.
    • Delimited File (*csv): Saves the list file to a delimited file. Type a file name in the Save as field, select a file from the folder icon, or use the Expression Builder to build the action settings using variable or other token values.
    • Excel File (*.xlsx, *.xls): Saves the list file to a Microsoft Excel file. Type a file name in the Save as field, select a file from the folder icon, or use the Expression Builder to build the action settings using variable or other token values.
    • Text File (*.txt): Saves the list file to a text file. Type a file name in the Save as field, select a file from the folder icon, or use the Expression Builder to build the action settings using variable or other token values.
    • Variable: Saves the list file to a variable. Type a variable name in the Save as field, select a variable from the drop-down, or use the Expression Builder to build the action settings using variable or other token values.
  • Overwrite: Select the check box to overwrite a file or variable with the same name.

Options: Select the delimiter option for Delimited, Text, or Variable files. Select the sheet name for a Microsoft Excel file. There is no option for a Microsoft Access file.

    • Delimiter: Select the required delimiter for the file.
      • Comma: Inserts a comma delimiter.
      • Pipe: Inserts a pipe delimiter.
      • Semicolon: Inserts a semicolon delimiter.
      • Space: Inserts a space as a delimiter.
      • Tab: Inserts a tab as a delimiter.
      • Other: Type a delimiter character in the Other field or use the Expression Builder to build the action settings using variable or other token values.
    • Sheet Name: Type a sheet name in the Sheet Name field or use the Expression Builder to build the action settings using variable or other token values.
Run error task
  1. Click Run error task.
  2. Open the On Error drop-down list and select the required setting:
    • Run error task: A botflow containing an error task automatically runs the error task in the event of an error. If the botflow does not contain an error task, the botflow stops in the event of an error.
    • Stop on error: The botflow stops in the event of an error.
    • Ignore errors: The action is skipped in the event of an error and the botflow attempts to execute the next action.
  1. Click X to close the drop-down and save the setting.

Run Switch

The Run Switch toggle controls how Nintex Bot runs an action when adding or editing an action in a botflow.

  • Run: To run the action automatically when you click OK, switch the toggle to Run.

  • Don't Run: If you do not want to run the action automatically when you click OK, switch the toggle to Don't Run.
OK/Cancel Click OK to save the action or click Cancel to discard the action or any changes.
