Form designer

The Form designer with drag-and-drop functionality allows you to create forms easily. You can design your form, divide your form into multiple sections, configure multi-page forms, and define the types of data your form captures by adding different form controls. If translation has been enabled by an administrator, you can also review and modify translated controls and fields.

The Form designer page consists of the toolbar, form controls toolbox, and designer canvas. Form controls can be selected from the toolbox and placed anywhere in the form designer canvas to design your form.

  • Toolbar: The toolbar is at the top of the form designer and includes options such as save, export, and import. If languages are added by the form designer, you can also select those translation languages for the form. For more information on adding languages, see Select translation settings.

  • Form control toolbox: The toolbox is available on the left of the form designer and contains all the controls available to design your form.

  • Form designer canvas: This is the area the controls are placed to create the form. After selecting a form control from the toolbox, you can drag and drop it into the canvas area to begin configuration of the control. If translation has been enabled by an administrator, you can modify the content in translated controls. Controls can be repositioned by simply clicking and dragging them to their required position on the page to design the form layout you want.

See Nintex - Form for more information on starting a workflow with a form, and Assign a task to multiple users on how to create form tasks.

Enabling users to save forms

The Save feature allows form designers to include the Save option in forms so that participants can save their forms and come back to it later. This is useful when filling out large forms.

Add a Save button to your form

  1. In the Form designer, click the Submit button.
  2. The Action panel is displayed.

  3. Turn on the Save toggle.

  4. The Save button is displayed on the canvas. By default, the button label is set to Save.

  5. If you want to change the button label, type a new button name in Save button text.

  6. For more information on the Save button, see Action panel.

When a workflow is published, participants have the option to fill in part of the form, save it, and come back to continue from where they stopped at a later time.

Note: To return to the saved form, participants can open My Nintex, and then navigate to the FormsDraft start forms and Draft task forms sections, which display a list of draft forms. Draft forms are forms that have been saved, but not been submitted yet.

For more information on draft forms, see Forms.
