Latest major or minor release

The latest release expands on the previous release with new features, enhancements, and bug fixes.

  • SharePoint
    • Nintex Automation for SharePoint app:
      • From Nintex Automation (5.7) onwards there are two different apps for SharePoint. The legacy Nintex K2 for SharePoint: used for SharePoint on-premises and upgraded environments for SharePoint Online, and Nintex Automation for SharePoint: used on new installations for SharePoint Online.
      • Existing customers upgrading to Nintex Automation (5.7) onwards use the legacy app from the SharePoint App Catalog for all SharePoint environments. New installations of Nintex Automation use the legacy app from the SharePoint App Catalog for SharePoint on-premises, and the new Nintex Automation for SharePoint app (SPFx) for SharePoint Online.

  • Silverlight is not supported.

  • From Nintex Automation (5.7) onwards, the legacy client tools (K2 Studio, K2 Designer for Visual Studio) are now available in the main installer. You can now use one installer to upgrade all your components.

  • The following dependencies are required. If the dependency is not installed, the Setup Manager will block installation and prompt you to download an install the dependency, then continue:

    • .NET Core Hosting and Runtime Bundle 8.0.5

    • Microsoft Visual C++ 2019 Redistributable

  • Upgrading Nintex K2 blackpearl (4.7) or Nintex K2 Five versions (5.0), (5.1), (5.2), (5.3), (5.4), and (5.5) to Nintex Automation (5.8) is not supported. With Nintex Automation (5.8), you must upgrade from a previous version to at least Nintex K2 Five (5.6) or Nintex Automation (5.7) before upgrading to the latest version of Nintex Automation.

  • SharePoint integration - See Nintex Automation for SharePoint app overview for considerations when using the legacy Nintex K2 for SharePoint app and the new app.

  • If you manually configured K2 integration with AAD, you need to configure the Identity URI in Azure as a redirect URI. See the topic Step 2 - Create an App in AAD for your K2 site and gather information for information on how to do this.


Issue:
When installing or upgrading to Nintex Automation (5.7) an error may occur and show in the installer log.
Error:
"Failed executing external process. Exception: SharePointOnlineManagementShell_22713-12000_en-us.msi did not complete execution, navigate to [Install location]\Nintex Automation (5.7) (5.0008.1000.0)\Installation\Redist\Redistributable\SharePoint Online Management Shell\SharePointOnlineManagementShell_22713-12000_en-us.msi and run the executable."
Resolution:
  1. From Programs and Features, remove the existing SharePoint Online Management Shell.
  2. Navigate to the following location:
    [InstallDirectory]\Nintex Automation (5.7) (5.0008.1000.0)\Installation\Redist\Redistributable\SharePoint Online Management Shell.
  3. Run the SharePointOnlineManagementShell_22713-12000_en-us.msi to install the new SharePoint Online Management Shell Redistributable.
  4. In the Setup Manager, run the Configuration Analysis again.


Issue:
After installing or upgrading to Nintex Automation (5.8), running the Setup Manager, and selecting Update, the SharePoint Site Collection feature was removed from Management > Features.
Resolution:
Run the Setup Manager and select Configure. Reconfigure the product to restore the SharePoint Site Collection feature.

Latest short term support release

This short term support release expands on the Nintex Automation (5.8) release with new features, enhancements, and bug fixes.

  • SharePoint
    • Nintex Automation for SharePoint app:
      • From Nintex Automation (5.7) onwards there are two different apps for SharePoint. The legacy Nintex K2 for SharePoint: used for SharePoint on-premises and upgraded environments for SharePoint Online, and Nintex Automation for SharePoint: used on new installations for SharePoint Online.
      • Existing customers upgrading to Nintex Automation (5.7) onwards use the legacy app from the SharePoint App Catalog for all SharePoint environments. New installations of Nintex Automation use the legacy app from the SharePoint App Catalog for SharePoint on-premises, and the new Nintex Automation for SharePoint app (SPFx) for SharePoint Online.
  • Integration
    • Microsoft is deprecating the EWS methods the product uses to integrate with Exchange Online in October 2026. To continue integrating with Exchange Online, the product has been upgraded to use MSGraph APIs instead.
  • Installer
    • Windows Server 2025 is now supported.

  • Silverlight is not supported.
