View a process

Processes form the core of Nintex Process Manager, and are central to what the app does. There are several ways you can go about finding and viewing your processes.

On this page:

Process menu

Hovering your mouse over the Process menu on the Navigation Bar opens a drop-down list that allows you to quickly access processes that you are involved in, as well as favourite and recently viewed processes. You can also create a new process directly from this menu.

Process menu (left navigation pane)

The Process Menu on the left navigation pane shows your organisation’s processes and the groups they are organized into. The left navigation pane allows you to navigate the hierarchies that have been set up, as well as shows filtered lists such as your checklists, favourites, in progress, and archived processes.

Clicking on one of these options will change the left navigation pane to reflect the view chosen, and the process map will display the contents of the selected group. Icons indicate process groups, published processes and in progress processes.

Process groups

Process groups are a collection of processes that share a common theme/objective. Process groups enable you to organize and manage your processes, arranging them in helpful categories and control who has access to them. You can arrange how processes are displayed in the process group overview and highlight the process workflow.

For more information, see process groups.

Process views

Navigate to a process and use one of the following tabs to view process details.

Map

The Map view allows you to see the key activities in a process. Hovering your mouse over any element to view details of that step. You can drag and resize the map as required. Below the map is a summary of the process, participants, suggestions, changes, and documents, as well as any time, system, or tag information. This section can be expanded over the map by dragging the top edge or using the green chevron tab on the right.

Process Editors can choose not to display a Process Map by selecting ‘Procedure Only’ when they create or edit the process, which confines the process to a Procedure view only, or they can replace the map with an alternate image. For more information, see View Process Map.

Procedure

Procedure view is a text based version of the process, showing the steps in list form. This includes any tags, roles, attached documents and notes.

All the information from the footer of the Map view is available in the Procedure view, in the summary section at the top of the process or in the sections following the core process steps. For more information, see View Process Procedure Details.

Checklists

Use Checklists in Nintex Process Manager to track and ensure each step in a process is completed and accounted for. A Checklist is a list of activities in a process that can be tracked and marked as completed to provide more compliance control for optimal process management.

Checklists can be used to validate a process manually and can be used as an intermediate step to identify and implement process automation Any form of automation that is used within a given process. Automation could be used to automate different tasks or activities within the process or could be used to automate the process end-to-end. Typically, automation consists of either an RPA (Robotic Process Automation) bot, no-code/low-code automated workflows, or custom-developed coded solutions..

For more information, see Checklists.

Edit

Edit view is like the Procedure view in appearance, but this is where you can make changes to any part of the process. For more information, see Edit a Process.
