Start Diagnostics

The Start Diagnostics action starts diagnostic logging. To stop diagnostic logging, see Stop Diagnostics. If you start a trace, but do not stop it, the trance will be lost.

  1. Open the About Box. For more information, see About Box.

  2. Click on the version number a few times very quickly to open the Diagnostic toolbar. The Diagnostic actions appear in the Advanced section in the Action Builder.

  3. Click Start Diagnostics to start a virtual trace.

  4. If you want to write the diagnostic output to a specified file path, follow the instructions below. If you do not write the output to a file, the trace will be stored in memory and if the bot is closed, the trace will be lost.

    1. Select the Write to File check box. The default location is ProgramData\Foxtrot Suite\Logs.

    2. Enter a Save to location. Optionally, click the Magic Wand to use the Expression Builder.

    3. If you want to overwrite the existing output file that you entered with new logging information, select the Overwrite check box. If you do not select to overwrite the existing file, a new output file with a unique name will be created.

  5. (Optional) Add Notes to document special instructions or functionality.

  6. Toggle the run switch to Run and click OK to execute and save the action.

    7. Note: The run switch is set to Run by default. To create or modify this action without executing it, click the slider to change the option to Don't Run. For more information, go to Action Builder.
