Attachments
Important: This feature is currently in open beta. For more information, see the Nintex Beta terms document. If something is not functioning correctly, please raise this with support@nintex.com
You can add files and web links to an activity in a draft process, keeping your supporting material with the work it relates to. You can add and manage attachments in both the Procedure and the Map views.
Add a file attachment
Note: Attachment controls only show when the feature is enabled for your workspace. If you do not see them, ask your Nintex administrator whether the feature is enabled.
To add a file attachment:
-
Open a process draft in editing mode.
-
In the Procedure view, find the activity you want to update.
-
In the Map view, select the activity to open its details panel.
-
-
Click Add.
- Select Attachment.
-
In the Add attachments dialog, drag one or more files onto the drop area, or select browse and choose files from your device. Each selected file appears in the dialog.
-
Remove a selected file with its remove X button, or click Remove all to clear the files listed in the dialog. Close the dialog to return to the activity.
-
Click Save Draft to upload the staged files and save the draft.
After saving, confirm that the attachments appear in the activity list. Reopen the draft to check that they are still there.
Files are held in the editor until you save the draft. Saving uploads the files and saves their links to the activities. Select an image file to preview it, select another file type to download it.
You can preview or download a file that is still staged in the current editing session as well as a file saved with the draft.
To add a web link
-
Open a process draft in editing mode.
-
In the Procedure view, find the activity you want to update.
-
In the Map view, select the activity to open its details panel.
-
-
Click Add.
- Select Web Link.
-
Specify a Title and a URL Link. Both fields are required. Use a valid web address that starts with http:// or https://.
-
Click Done. The link appears in the activity list with the link icon and the title you specified.
-
Click Save Draft to keep the web link in the draft.
Web links are saved with the draft without uploading a file.
Click a web link title to open its destination in a new browser tab.
Remove or reorder attachments
To remove an attachment from an activity, open its options menu and select Delete. To remove a file that is still in the Add attachments dialog, select its remove X button instead.
Click Save Draft to keep the removal. Until you save, the change is only in the current editing session.
To change the order of attachment entries, use the drag handle
beside an entry to move it.
Considerations
-
If you do not see the attachment option, open a draft process in edit mode. If the option is still missing, ask your Nintex administrator to confirm that file attachments are enabled for your workspace.
-
If a file is marked as File type not supported, check its filename extension. The extension check is not case-sensitive. Supported extensions are:
.jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .bmp, .png, .txt, .xls, .doc, .vsd, .ppt, .pps, .pdf, .htm, .docx, .dotx, .pptx, .xlsx, .mht, .dot, .oft, .xlsm, .xlt, .wmv, .avi, .obr, .zip, .rpt, .xltm, .mp4, .mts, .mov, .dwg, .xtlm, .xps, .tr5, and .msg.
Select a file that has one of these extensions. Changing a filename extension does not convert the file to another format.
-
After you add a file, save the draft to upload and keep the attachment. If the editor reports Failed to upload [file name], leave the file attached and click Save Draft again. A failed upload remains staged for another save attempt.
-
After removing an attachment, save the draft to keep the change. Removing it from the editor does not update the draft until you save.
-
If selecting a saved attachment shows Unable to download [file name]. Please try again. Click the attachment again. Images open in a preview; other files download to your device.
-
Reopen the draft and check the activity's attachment list to verify that your changes were saved. If an upload or download continues to fail, contact your Nintex administrator or support and include the process name, activity, file name, and exact message.
