Actions toolbox

The Actions toolbox is available on the left of the workflow designer and contains all the actions available to design workflows. You can find the action you want and add it to your workflow. The actions toolbox is organized into the following sections and includes core A workflow action that performs a basic function, such as assigning a task or sending an email, typically without connecting to an external system., connector A workflow action that interacts with a third-party application to perform a basic operation, such as adding a record or retrieving a file from Salesforce or Box., and custom A workflow action created by a developer using Nintex Xtensions. actions. The availability of actions is determined by your administrator.

  • My snippets: All the actions and action sets you save as snippets A configured action or action set that you can reuse in your workflows. are displayed in this section.

    Note: The my snippets section is displayed in the Actions toolbox when you have saved at least one action or action set.

  • Favorites: The categories you have selected as favorite are displayed in this section. A maximum of ten categories can be selected as favorites.

    Note: The Favorites section is displayed in the Actions toolbox when you have saved at least one category as favorite.

  • Utility: All the core action categories are displayed in this section.

  • Connector library: The connecter categories that include all the connector actions are displayed in this section.

Search for an action

Search for actions by function or name, including names from other Nintex products.

  • In the Search text box at the top of the actions toolbox on the left of the Designer page, begin typing a function, such as "document" or "condition," or characters that appear in the action name, such as "approval" or "loop."

    All actions containing the specified text in their names or functions are listed.

    To clear the search entry, click (Clear) on the right of the Search text box.

Browse actions

  • Use the scroll bar to view the action groups available.
  • Expand and collapse an action group to view its actions.
  • Click a letter in the index on the left to go to the categories that start with that letter.

Add actions and action sets to My snippets

Save your commonly used actions and action sets to My snippets to display them at the top of the actions toolbox. Any actions or sets saved as snippets will appear first in the My snippets section.

Note: A maximum of twenty snippets can be saved per user in a tenant, with a size limit of 5 MB per snippet.

  • On the designer canvas, click to the right of the action or action set and then select Save as snippet.

    The saved snippet is displayed at the top of the actions toolbox in the My snippets section.

  • To remove a snippet from the My snippets section, click .

Add favorite categories

You can favorite the most commonly used categories to display them on the actions toolbox. All the categories selected as favorite are displayed in the Favorites section.

Note: A maximum of ten categories can be selected as favorites.

  • To add a category to favorites, find the category you want to add as a favorite and click .

    The selected category is displayed on the actions toolbox in the Favorites section.

  • To remove a category from favorites, click .
