Salesforce - Update a record

The Salesforce - Update a record action A tool for building the processes, logic, and direction within workflows. Actions are the steps the workflow performs to complete a process. updates the specified attributes from the specified record in Salesforce.

Configure the Salesforce - Update a record action

  1. Add the action to the workflow and open the action configuration panel. For more information, see Add an action to the workflow.

  1. Select a Connection. If you do not have a connection, see Add a connection.
  2. Select an Object name.

  3. Type the Record ID.
  4. Update attribute values in the record:

    1. Click Add field to view fields for the selected object.
    2. Select each field you want and then click Add.
    3. For each added field, select or enter the value you want to use when updating the record.

Variable types

Connection Credentials and other settings that enables workflows to communicate with external systems, services, or applications. It's required to pass data between the workflow and the indicated service, which could be a cloud service, business application, or content store.

The Salesforce connection to use for accessing the record to update.

Object name

The object type of the record you want to update. Accepts a selection from the drop-down list. Options in the drop-down list are derived from the selected Salesforce connection.

The ID of the record you want to update. Accepts any combination of typed text and inserted variables.

Add fields / Add field

Displays selections for browsing, selecting, and adding fields (attributes) that you want to update in the record.

Value to use when updating the indicated attribute (field). Accepts an inserted variable. Accepted entry types correspond to the data type of the field. Some fields allow a combination of typed text and inserted variables while others require selection from the drop-down list (or an inserted variable).

To remove a field, click (Delete).
