Dropbox Business - Move a file

The Dropbox Business - Move a file action A tool for building the processes, logic, and direction within workflows. moves a file from a specified source folder to a destination folder in Dropbox Business.

Configure the Dropbox Business - Move a file action

  1. Add the action to the workflow and open the action configuration panel. For more information, see Add, rename, and copy actions.

  2. Select a Connection. If you do not have a connection, see Add a connection.
  1. Select the Member ID.
  2. Note: When the Connection and Member ID are selected, the Source Path and Destination Path fields become configurable.

  3. For Source, select Path or File variable. Depending on the Source option selected, the Path or Variable field is displayed.
  4. If you selected:
    • Path : type the file path of the file to move. You can also click the browse icon () to browse the folder structure and select the file path.
    • File variable : select the File variable you want to move.
  5. In the Destination section, in the Path field, type the file path you want to move the file to. You can also browse the folder structure using the browse icon () to select the destination path.
  6. Select an option for Overwrite file.

Caution: If a file/folder that's used in a workflow is moved, renamed, or deleted, any workflows that use that file/folder will not start or will fail. Make sure you keep the paths in your workflow configurations up to date.

Displays when you select the Path source type.

The location in Dropbox Business where the workflow retrieves the file from to move to the destination path.

Accepts any combination of typed text, text added through navigation (), and inserted variables.

Displays when you select the File variable source type.

The file to move to the destination path. Accepts an inserted variable.
