Open and save workflows

This topic describes how to open and save workflows.

You can open workflows for a given list using the Open Workflow dialog box or the Workflow Inventory page. The Open Workflow dialog box allows you to open earlier versions of workflows in addition to the latest version, which may not be published. The publish status is indicated for the latest version.

You can save workflows at any point in the design process.

When you save a workflow, a minor version is created; when you publish a workflow, a major version is created.

To open a workflow from the Workflow designer

  1. In the ribbon, click Open.

The Open Workflow dialog box appears.

  2. To open the latest version of the workflow, click the desired workflow and then click Select.

The latest version of the workflow opens in the Workflow designer.

  3. To open an earlier version of a workflow, click to the left of the desired workflow title, select the desired version, and then click Select.

Alternatively, you can double-click the version to open it.

The selected version of the workflow opens in the Workflow designer.

Note: If this workflow is then modified and published, a new version will be created and this new version will be the current version that is used when a workflow is started.

To open a workflow from the Workflow Inventory page

  1. In the list of interest, click the List or Library tab.
  2. Click for Workflow Settings and then select Manage Workflows with Nintex Workflow.
  3. On the Workflow Inventory page, click the name of the workflow.

The latest version of the workflow opens in the Workflow designer.

For more information about the Workflow Inventory page, see Manage workflows.

  1. In the ribbon, click Save.

For information on saving workflows as snippets and templates, see Work with snippets and Work with templates.

  2. In the Set Title & Description dialog box, fill in the fields as desired, and then click Submit.

For more information about fields in the Set Title & Description dialog box, see Set Title & Description dialog box (workflows).

Note: You can save a workflow under a different name by changing the value for Title and clearing the check box for Overwrite existing version.

A progress indicator appears during the saving process and then a message confirms that the workflow was saved.
