What's New in Nintex K2 Cloud Update 20

This topic describes new features, improvements, behavioral changes, and known issues for Update 20 released in October 2023.

  • The Designer
    • Style Profile Designer:
      • The Check Box, Rating, and Radio Button controls are now style profile aware. You can set the background color, the outline, and the main color for each control type using the advanced colors. If you are using custom code (CSS) that targets these controls, your custom code may no longer work.
      • The ToolBar Button control's icon is also now style profile aware. You can set the icon's highlight, destructive, base, and base secondary color using the advanced colors. If you are using custom code (CSS) that targets the icon of this control, your custom code may no longer work.
    • New property added to Open subview/subform rule action, called Vertical Align.
  • Management
    • New property added to Exchange Online Email SmartObject List method, called "From Address".
  • Microsoft has ended support for Silverlight on October 12, 2021. As a result the legacy Silverlight designer will be removed from the product with the next release. Ensure you rebuild these in the Workflow Designer (HTML).
  • The Style Profile Designer is not available in Internet Explorer (IE), as it uses CSS custom properties (CSS variables) which is not compatible with Internet Explorer. We suggest you use a modern browser for the Designer, such as Google Chrome.
  • The jQuery version used in SmartForms has been upgraded to jQuery 3.6.3 and all jQuery libraries updated to reduce vulnerabilities and ensure your solutions are secure. See jQuery upgrade for SmartForms for more information and how it affects existing solutions.
  • Download the enhanced Package and Deployment tool from https://<runtimeurl>/Management/Remote. Once downloaded, log a ticket with Nintex Customer Central to provide your public IP address ranges to Nintex K2Operations. This allows access to your Nintex K2 Cloud environment from your network. Please see the Package and Deployment Considerations topic for further considerations about working with the Package and Deployment tool.
  • If you are using K2 for SharePoint, you must run through the K2 for SharePoint registration wizard after upgrade. See the following steps:
    1. Click the K2 for SharePoint app from the Site Contents page or Quick Launch menu of the app catalog site and run through the Registration Wizard by clicking the Registration Wizard link in the Administration section to register the app with your environment's URL. (If you do not see the Registration wizard, make sure you are on the app catalog).
    2. (This step is only required if there were changes to the K2 for SharePoint app. See the K2 for SharePoint release notes for information about previous releases and the latest version.)
      Deploy the app to one or more site collections using the Manage App Deployments page in SharePoint. A link to this page is provided on the K2 for SharePoint settings page. It is recommended you do this by paths rather than individual URLs, but individual URLs give you more control regarding which site collections have Nintex K2 Cloud integration. You should deploy as a SharePoint Administrator if you are deploying to multiple site collections.
  • If you replace an existing Task step with a new Task step in a workflow, and the Form rules of the existing SmartForm Task remain but it shows the new Task’s name, follow the following article to successfully fix the issue: Known Issue : Old Workflow Task name in SmartForm overwritten by new Task
  • Issue: When you configure a specific custom workflow step created for a single SQL Service Instance and Service Object in a workflow, the configuration panel allows you to select a service instance that is not linked to the specific custom workflow step.
Each release includes all bug fixes from preceding releases; see the release notes for previous releases for more details on bug fixes in previous versions. Update 20 includes the following additional bug fixes:
  • All bug fixes in Nintex K2 Cloud Update 19 Fix Packs 1-12.

  • When deploying a workflow from a category containing a space in the name, and clicking the manage permissions link in the Deploy Success message, Management failed to load the permissions page.

  • When using a form in the K2 Workspace app, the form contains an Editable List view with an Image Attachment control, and you try to upload an image, the image preview did not show at runtime after uploading.

  • When using a rule to open a subview or subform inside a tall iframe, the subview/subform dialog was positioned in the middle of the iframe.

  • When a Smartbox SmartObject contains a Memo or Text property, you create an Item view of the SmartObject, and use characters such as 尹 or 寗 to create a new record, a “A valid UTF32 value is between 0x000000 and 0x10ffff, inclusive, and should not include surrogate codepoint values (0x00d800 ~ 0x00dfff). Parameter name: utf32” error occurred.

  • When executing the List method on an Exchange Online Email SmartObject, the “From” field value returned the display name instead of the email address.

  • A security issue was addressed for the SmartForms Hyperlink controls.

  • When a workflow is deleted, then edited and configuring a custom filter on a SmartObject List method in a Set Variable step, clicking the Open Configuration Panel link did not show the List Method Configuration content

  • When you configure the output mapping for a SmartObject step in a workflow, select another step and reselect the SmartObject step, the output mapping was removed and the field became unresponsive.

  • When a view contains a Worklist control that has a due date column, the worklist items could not be sorted by due date at runtime.

  • When a Slider control on a form is set to visible using the “When the Form is initialized” rule, the slider control became unresponsive at runtime.

  • When using a Create Reference step to create a reference in a workflow, then a Loop step to loop through items in a list and you map the reference created to a variable in a Set Variable step within the loop, a “Object reference not set to an instance of an object” error occurred.
Fix Pack 5 February 2024

  • When a form on K2 Mobile contains a Radio Button List control, the control did not display correctly at runtime.

  • When a form contains a Choice control, the Radio Button and Allow Own Value properties are selected at design time, and you try to specify a value in the “Specify your own value” field at runtime, the radio button disappeared.

  • When using a SharePoint SmartObject “Get Documents” method and selecting the ‘Document’ field in the Set Variable step of a workflow, multiple errors occurred in the browser console.

  • When using K2 for SharePoint, and you use the SharePoint List SmartObject and execute the Get List Item by ID method, the column and values did not align.

  • When using the SmartObjects tab in the context browser of a workflow and expanding methods of a SmartObject, unknown methods were displayed.

  • When using a style profile to customize the background color of a Check Box control, the color was set to gray at runtime.

  • When viewing a workflow's details on the Designer Properties page, the time in Created By and Last Modified showed in UTC instead of local time.
Fix Pack 3 January 2024

  • When using K2 for SharePoint, and a column contains the word “clear” as a value, you use the SharePoint List SmartObject and execute the Get List Item by ID method, the returned values were shifted to the left of that column.

  • If you previously had a custom mouse cursor enabled and your environment is upgraded to Update 20, the cursor changed to the default arrow mouse pointer.

  • When a workflow contains a Send Email step or Task step and you use a value from the context browser as the task recipient value, the value did not persist.
Fix Pack 2 December 2023
  • An “OAuth token requires authorization” error occurred in the workflow designer after refreshing the token for the SharePoint service instance.
  • When editing a workflow containing DocuSign steps with configured optional properties, the property values were not set or missing.
  • When adding a user to a role in Management > Users >Role, the user could be added to the role multiple times.
  • A “Server Error Unable to parse the value. Width should be specified in pixel or percentage format. (http 500 error)” error occurred if a view or form’s Width property value contained decimal points and trying to create or edit a view or form.
  • When trying to upload a file using the File Attachment control a “System.IO.IsolatedStorage.IsolatedStorageException: Unable to delete file. at System.IO.IsolatedStorage.IsolatedStorageFile.DeleteFile(String file) at SourceCode.Forms.AppFramework.FileUtility.UpdatePath(String currentPath, String newPath)” error occurred in Windows Event Viewer.
  • When using the User Role Manager Service Instance > User SmartObject for more than one Picker control in a form, one of the pickers intermittently did not resolve correctly and displayed no values.
  • When using K2 Package and Deployment to deploy a package containing a workflow with a Send Email step, and you deploy the workflow on the target environment, the email recipients changed for example "Originator" changed to "Email" and roles were removed, leaving the fields blank.
  • When using Check Box List or Radio Button List as the Display Type of a Choice control on a form, the data source is a SmartObject, and the Use Legacy Theme property of the form is deselected, the check boxes and radio buttons did not show at runtime.
Fix Pack 1 November 2023
  • When updating a SmartObject’s Record Limit in the Endpoint Data Limits section in Management >Integration>APIs>SmartObject OData, a message containing “false” is shown.
  • After applying Update 19 Fix Pack 5 and trying to open a form at runtime, an "Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'getAttribute')" error occurred.
  • When executing the Update method on a Salesforce SmartObject, and changing the “Date” field value to NULL or an empty value, an “Invalid Date” error occurred.
  • When trying to delete a workflow from K2 for SharePoint, workflows were referenced that did not contain any dependencies to the workflow being deleted.
  • When using a SmartObject Get List method in the Reminders tab of a Sent Email step of a workflow, then deleting some of the SmartObject properties, a “Your workflow has encountered errors during deployment. Open error console on the canvas to review the errors" error occurred when trying to deploy the workflow.
