K2 BLACKPEARL PRODUCT DOCUMENTATION: USER GUIDE
Process Collaboration Overview

Building a K2 Process in a Collaborative Environment

Collaborative process design involves multiple users with different knowledge and abilities coming together to collaborate on a process across multiple K2 developments. Some users have extensive knowledge about the business process. Other users have knowledge about business process software. Some users have a mix of these skill sets.

The goal of Collaborative Process Design is to provide the tools needed to build processes specifically targeted for the user building the process. If the tool or the user is unable to achieve a certain aspect or level of functionality within the process using their tool of choice they should be able to hand the process off to someone else that uses a more powerful tool in order to extend the process. Once extended, the process should be able to be handed back to the original user for them to continue to maintain and extend. This iterative and collaborative process is an important aspect to process development.

K2 Designer Environments

K2 blackpearl offers number of different ways of creating processes:

All K2 Process Definitions are based on the K2 Designer for Visual Studio project structure. Each of the K2 Designer environments uses this structure within the specific graphical environment presented to the business user or developer.

Collaborative design as described within this topic requires that all K2 Designer environment use the same K2 Server and K2 Environment Library settings
