FTP

FTP Connections are created by assigning a connection letter to an FTP host name.

Note: You must be at Expert Level to work with FTP Connections.

Create an FTP Connection

An FTP Connection is required for Nintex RPA to work with an FTP server.

Each FTP Action added to your botflow A file that stores the actions and variables designed to automate tasks. is tied to one FTP Connection.

To create an FTP Connection:

  1. Click Add Item on the Botflow Pane.
  2. Click FTP.
  3. The FTP window displays.

  4. Select the Connection Letter used to identify the FTP Connection.
  5. Enter the Host name, or IP address of the FTP server.
  6. Optionally, click the Magic Wand to use the Expression Builder.

  7. Enter the Port value.
  8. Select the Login Type:
    1. Username & Password
    2. Select a Credential from the list.

      The Username and Password for the selected Credential display.

      Confirm the Password.

    3. Username only
    4. Select a Credential from the list.

      The Username for the selected Credential displays.

    5. Anonymous: No selections available.
    6. None: No selections available.
  9. Optionally, enter a Note describing the FTP Connection action.
  10. Click OK to create the FTP Connection.

Manage FTP Connections

To manage FTP Connections:

  1. Navigate to the FTP Connection on the Botflow Pane.
  2. Right-click the FTP Connection.
  3. The Context Menu displays.

  4. Use the Context Menu to add, edit, delete and duplicate FTP Connections.

Change FTP Connections

An FTP Action references the FTP Connection and is designed to connect to the FTP host indicated by the connection letter.

To change the connection letter:

  1. Right-click the action in the Action Builder.
  2. Click Edit in the Context Menu.
  3. Click Rules in the Action window.
  4. The Rules window displays.

  5. Enter the required letter in the Rules window.
  6. Click OK to save.

Change an Action's FTP Connection

FTP Actions are associated with a specific FTP Connection letter so that Nintex RPA knows which workbook to modify when the Action is run.

To change the FTP connection letter:

  1. Right-click the action in the Action Builder.
  2. Mouse-over Quick Edit in the Context Menu.
  3. Click FTP Connections in the fly-out menu.
  4. The Connection window displays.

  5. Select the required Connection Letter from the list.
  6. Click OK to save.

FTP window field descriptions

Field or button Description
Letter Select a Connection Letter used to identify the FTP Connection.
Host
  • Enter the Host name, or IP address of the FTP server.
  • Optionally, click the Magic Wand to use the Expression Builder.

    Port
  • Enter the Port, value.
  • Optionally, click the Magic Wand to use the Expression Builder.

    Login type
    • Username & Password: Select a Credential from the list. The Username and Password for the selected Credential display. Confirm the Password. Username only: Select a Credential from the list. The Username for the selected Credential displays.
    • Anonymous: No selections available.
    • None: No selections available.
