Invert Selection

The Invert Selection action inverts the current selection in an Excel workbook.  Deselected cells become selected while selected cells become deselected.

Note: The Actions Quick Reference provides a complete list of actions that you can print for easy reference.

Create an Invert Selection action

  1. Drag and drop the Selector onto the Targets list in the target workbook to display the available target options.

  2. Continue to drag the Selector to the Cell options and expand them.

  3. Select a cell option:

    • Current Cell - Performs the action to the active cell in the workbook.
    • Exact Cell - Performs the action to a cell specified by the user. You can also access an exact cell by targeting it directly.
    • Cell Range - Performs the action to a defined range of cells.
    • Named Range - Performs the action to a named range within the workbook.
  4. If this is the first time the workbook was targeted, Nintex RPA LE will attempt to create a workbook connection automatically. For more information about Microsoft Excel workbook connections, see Excel Connections.

A preview of the target cell is displayed along with a button that allows you to modify the cell to target, according to the cell option that you selected.

  5. On the Actions list, select Invert Selection. There are no special settings for this action.
  6. If needed, adjust the Rule settings to modify how Nintex Bot finds the application target.
  7. If needed, adjust the Timing settings to fine tune how the action runs.
  8. If needed, adjust the Run error task settings to fine tune how the action runs.

    • Run error task: A botflow containing an error task automatically runs the error task in the event of an error. If the botflow does not contain an error task, the botflow stops in the event of an error.
    • Stop on error: The botflow stops in the event of an error.
    • Ignore errors: The action is skipped in the event of an error and the botflow attempts to execute the next action.
  9. (Optional) Add a Note to document special instructions or functionality.

  10. Toggle the run switch to Run and click OK to execute and save the action.

  11. Note: The run switch is set to Run by default. To create or modify this action without executing it, click the slider to change the option to Don't Run.  For more information, go to Action Builder.
