Custom CSS
The Custom CSS setting allows form designers to add a custom CSS to forms. When this setting is enabled, the advanced styles section is displayed in the Styles tab of Forms, giving form designers the ability to create custom styles and customize their forms as required.
You can add a CSS that is hosted in an external location or use the CSS editor to write custom styles in the code editor. The custom CSS that's applied to a form can be disabled whenever you want.
Important: Applying custom CSS styles involves acceptance of potential risks, such as incompatibility with future form upgrades, interfering or conflicting with accessibility of the Forms or Nintex’s platform, and is excluded from Nintex support services.
For information and instructions on adding a custom CSS to a form, see Add a custom CSS to your form.
Enable or disable custom CSS
-
On the top navigation bar, click Settings.
-
On the left menu, click Form settings.

Language translation
Use the language translation feature to create forms in multiple languages. With this feature, you can eliminate the logic and management needed to create a form and translate it into multiple languages. You also do not need to create multiple forms for multiple languages. Instead, you can create a single form in multiple languages. You can choose to automatically translate the form into the languages added by the form designer. This feature is especially beneficial if you have form users/participants in multiple countries.
For more information on translating forms, see Translate.
Enable or disable language translation
-
On the top navigation bar, click Settings.
-
On the left menu, click Form settings.
-
Select a base language for all forms. The base language is used as the language from which text on the form will be translated, ensuring seamless localized language support.
Note: Changing the base language only impacts new forms that are created. Any previously saved draft forms and existing published forms will still use the base language selected when those forms were saved and published.
-
In the Language translation section, turn on the Enable translation in forms toggle. This setting is enabled by default.
Note: If you disable translation in forms, newly created forms will not be able to be translated. In addition, if an existing translated form is re-published, the translations will be removed.
-
If you enabled translation in forms:
-
Turn on the Enable auto-translation support toggle.
Note: If you disable auto-translations in forms and you want to translate forms, you must manually provide translations.
-
Select languages for form translations. The languages selected are available in the Form designer.
Note:-
Right-to-left languages are supported, but the translated forms may contain display issues.
- If you remove an existing supported language, it will be removed as a translation option on all forms. If a form with a removed supported language is re-published, the translation will be removed.

Form plugins
Form plugins allow you to add custom form controls to your form designs. You can create plugins to add new controls like star ratings or sliders, add alternative versions of native controls, visualize information in tables, charts, and generated images, provide workarounds and new functionality, or add complex solutions to your forms.
When a plugin is added in the Form plugins manager, it is added to the Form designer control toolbox. Form designers can then add the plugin to their form designs just like out-of-the-box form controls.
For more information on creating Form plugins, see the Form plugins software development kit.
Enable or disable Form plugins
-
On the top navigation bar, click Settings.
-
On the left menu, click Form settings.
-
In the Form plugins section, select the required setting:
-
Disable creation of plugins: When disabled, plugins cannot be added to the tenant or to forms. Existing published forms that use plugins are not affected but cannot be edited or republished without removing the plugin controls.
-
Enable creation of plugins: When enabled, users with a Developer or Administrator role can add form plugins to the tenant. Designers can use these plugins in their form designs.

Form access
The Form access settings are used to restrict unauthenticated users from accessing forms and to open all authenticated forms in My Nintex.
-
Allow only authenticated uses to access forms: When selected, only authenticated users of the tenant can access forms. See, Allow only authenticated uses to access forms.
-
Open authenticated forms in My Nintex: When selected, all authenticated forms are opened in My Nintex. See, Open authenticated forms in My Nintex.
Allow only authenticated uses to access forms
Use this setting to restrict unauthenticated users from accessing forms. When the check box is selected, only authenticated users of the tenant can access forms and they must log in with credentials for the Nintex Automation Cloud tenant to access the forms. The setting applies only to new start and task forms you configure in your workflows after you select and save this setting. Existing start or task forms that are configured to allow access to anyone with the URL are not affected with the change of this setting. All forms must be updated manually if you want to allow only authenticated users to access them. For instructions, see Update the configuration of existing forms.
When this check box is not selected, access to forms depends on how the start forms and task forms are configured.
Configure form settings to Allow only authenticated uses to access forms
-
On the top navigation bar, click Settings.
-
On the left menu, click Form settings.
-
In the Form access section, select the Allow only authenticated users to access forms check box.
-
Click Save.
When the Allow only authenticated users to access forms check box is selected, the Give form access to options in start forms and Assignee authentication toggle in task forms are removed from the configuration. Therefore, if you have existing start and task forms that are configured to allow access to anyone with the URL and want to change them to allow only authenticated users to access them, you must update them before you change the Form access setting.
Update the configuration of existing forms
To change the settings for existing forms, open the start forms and any Assign a task or Assign a task to multiple users actions in your workflows and update the configuration.
For instructions to:
-
Update the configuration of the start form, see Configure the start event .
-
Update the configuration of the Assign a task to multiple users action, see Enable Assignee authentication.
-
Update the configuration of the Assign a task action, see Enable Assignee authentication for form-based task type.
Open authenticated forms in My Nintex
When this setting is selected, all authenticated forms are opened in My Nintex when a participant opens the form. This enables participants to view all related information about their forms and tasks based on the settings enabled in My Nintex settings for the workflow. Participants can easily continue to the next task, submit a form, or review any other ongoing instances they may have.
When this setting is not selected, users will see the standalone form submission screen when a form is opened.
-
This setting applies only to authenticated forms. When the setting is selected, participants who open an authenticated form will be automatically redirected to My Nintex.
-
Anonymous forms will continue to provide the anonymous experience and users will see the standalone form submission screen when a form is opened. Anonymous forms are forms that have the Anyone with the form URL setting selected in the start form. Anyone who has the form URL can access and submit the form, without the need to log in to Nintex Automation Cloud. For information about configuring the start form, see Configure the start event
-
The setting does not apply to Nintex Mobile and users will continue to see the standalone form submission screen when a form is opened.
-
On the top navigation bar, click Settings.
-
On the left menu, click Form settings.
-
In the Form access section, select the Open authenticated forms in My Nintex check box.
-
