Using the Barcode Scanning Control

The Barcode control allows you to capture barcodes and QR codes in a form when using the K2 Mobile app . This control must be configured at form design time with rules that handle the events and data captured using the control. For information on configuring the control at form design time see the Barcode Control topic in the K2 smartforms User Guide.

The Barcode scanner is only available in a SmartForm, there is no other way to access it in K2 Mobile.

Tapping the barcode control on a SmartForm activates the camera. To capture the barcode or QR code, position it within the square on the screen. The barcode or QR code is scanned and converted to a number (which is stored by the form).

You can cancel the scan by tapping the X on the top left of the screen, and rescan by tapping the refresh icon on the bottom right of the screen. Tap Done to store the barcode or QR number and return to the form.

K2 uses device-specific libraries to interpret barcodes, so the ability to read different formats depends on the formats that the device’s barcode libraries understand. See Machine Readable Object Types for iOS devices.
