Split PDF
The Split PDF action splits one PDF document into two or more documents.
Note: The Actions Quick Reference provides a complete list of actions that you can print for easy reference.
Important: Nintex Bot cannot target Adobe Acrobat DC and Adobe Acrobat Reader DC versions 2022.003.20263 and higher because the setting required to target these applications is no longer being saved. Therefore, the Split PDF action does not work in PDF file versions 2.0 or higher.

-
In the Save to drop-down list, select to save the split PDF documents in the Same folder or a Different folder.
-
If you selected to save the split PDF documents in a different folder, in the Folder field, click the folder and navigate to and select the location where you want to save the split PDF documents. Optionally, click the Magic Wand to use the Expression Builder.
-
Select if you want to Overwrite the destination file.
-
From the Split drop-down list, select if you want to split All pages into separate PDF documents or split the PDF document After page.
-
If you selected to split the PDF documents after a specific page, enter the Page number. Optionally, click the Magic Wand to use the Expression Builder.
-
If needed, adjust the Run error task settings to fine tune how the action runs.
- Run error task: A botflow containing an error task automatically runs the error task in the event of an error. If the botflow does not contain an error task, the botflow stops in the event of an error.
- Stop on error: The botflow stops in the event of an error.
- Ignore errors: The action is skipped in the event of an error and the botflow attempts to execute the next action.
-
(Optional) Add a Note to document special instructions or functionality.
-
Toggle the run switch to Run and click OK to execute and save the action.
The split pages are saved with the original document name and appended with “- Part 1”, “- Part 2,” etc.
Note: The run switch is set to Run by default. To create or modify this action without executing it, click the slider to change the option to Don't Run. For more information, go to Action Builder.
