Question

The Question action displays a question to the user and waits for an answer to be selected manually.

Note: The Actions Quick Reference provides a complete list of actions that you can print for easy reference.

Create a Question action

  1. On the Actions list, select Question.

  2. Enter the Question to be displayed to the user. Use the toolbar to format text and insert images. Optionally, click the Magic Wand to use the Expression Builder to insert images and add tokens.

  3. Select from the available preset Answers

If there is no preset answer that meets your needs, select Custom and enter the list of custom answers separated by commas. If you want to display a custom list of answers in a drop-down list, select the Use combo box for Custom options check box. Optionally, click the Magic Wand to use the Expression Builder.

  4. In the Save to field, specify the variable that will store the answer selected by the user. For example, if Yes and No are the answers available to the user and the user selects No, the value of "No" will be stored in the variable.

  5. For more options, click More above the toolbar.

    1. Specify a Default answer. The default answer is what is selected if the user pressed the Enter key on the keyboard while the question is on the screen.

    2. Specify a Cancel answer. This answer is used if the user pressed the Esc key on the keyboard, or if the user attempts to close the question by clicking the red X close button in the top right corner of the Question window. If a cancel answer is not specified, the user will be forced to select an answer before continuing.

  6. (Optional) Add a Note to document special instructions or functionality.

  7. Toggle the run switch to Run and click OK to execute and save the action.

  8. Note: The run switch is set to Run by default. To create or modify this action without executing it, click the slider to change the option to Don't Run.  For more information, go to Action Builder.
