Hibernate

The Hibernate action puts the computer in hibernate mode. It suspends the computer in a very low power state. Hibernate uses less power than sleep and when you start up the computer again, although it doesn't happen as quickly as when you are in sleep mode, you're back to where you left off. Use hibernation when you know that you won't use your computer for an extended period of time and won't have an opportunity to charge the battery during that time. When a system enters hibernation, the contents of its memory are saved to disk before the computer is turned off. When the system is restarted, the desktop and previously active programs are restored. This action allows the wake event to restore the system's power status to active.

Note: The Actions Quick Reference provides a complete list of actions that you can print for easy reference.

Create a Hibernate action

  1. On the Actions list, click Computer and select Hibernate.

  2. If desired, select Force Hibernation. When this setting is selected, the suspended mode will be immediately forced. If it is not selected, Windows will send a suspend request to every application.

  3. If desired, select Only hibernate if running. When this setting is selected:

    • If the botflow was run using the Run button, the computer will go into hibernation and no message will be displayed.

    • If the botflow was run by being double-clicked or using the Execute button, Nintex Bot will display a placeholder message where the action would have normally been executed.

    • If this setting is not selected, the computer will go into hibernation any time the action is executed.

  4. If needed, adjust the Run error task settings to fine tune how the action runs.

    • Run error task: A botflow containing an error task automatically runs the error task in the event of an error. If the botflow does not contain an error task, the botflow stops in the event of an error.
    • Stop on error: The botflow stops in the event of an error.
    • Ignore errors: The action is skipped in the event of an error and the botflow attempts to execute the next action.
  5. (Optional) Add a Note to document special instructions or functionality.

  6. Toggle the run switch to Run and click OK to execute and save the action.

  7. Note: The run switch is set to Run by default. To create or modify this action without executing it, click the slider to change the option to Don't Run.  For more information, go to Action Builder.

When the action is executed, the botflow will automatically stop on the action. If the botflow is not running from Nintex RPA Central, when it is restarted, a message will be displayed that states that the script has been stopped. If the action is executed by a step or double-click and you selected to Only hibernate if running, a message will be displayed that states that the computer would have been put into hibernation mode if the botflow was running.
