What is the Get Info Action?

The Get Info Action retrieves information about a variety of targets. The type of information that can be retrieved varies based on the type of target chosen.  This Action is available when targeting the following:

Creating a Get Info Action

The Get Info  Action may be created a variety of ways depending on the information you wish to obtain.

Creating a Get Info Action with an Excel Workbook

Drag and drop the Selector onto the Targets list in the target workbook to display the available target options. Continue to drag the Selector to the Workbook option. As an alternative, you may also target the Select All button.

Note: The Select All button in an Excel workbook is located in the top-left corner (just left of the Column A column header, and just above the Row 1 row header).

If this is the first time the workbook was targeted, Nintex RPA LE will attempt to create a workbook connection automatically. (For more information about Microsoft Excel workbook connections, read the Excel Connections article.)

A preview of the target is displayed. Select the Get Info  Action from the Actions list

Select the Rules to change the Connection for this Action. Both the Timing  and Error settings for this action may be configured to fine tune the how the Action will run.

Note: For more information about the timing and error settings, go to Action Builder.

From the list of available information, select the Item   you wish to retrieve. Enter where the results should be Saved to .  

Optionally add Notes to the Action to document any special instructions or functionality. When the Run Switchis set to Run, the action will be executed after clicking OK.

Note: The run switch is set to Run by default. To create or modify this action without executing it, click the slider to change the option to Don't Run.  For more information, go to Action Builder.

Click the OK button to save the Action.

Creating a Get Info Action with an Excel Column

Drag and drop the Selector onto the Targets list in the target workbook to display the available target options. Continue to drag the Selector to the Column option, expanding the available Column Options . Choose the desired column option:

  • Current Column - Performs the action to the active column in the workbook
  • Exact Column - Performs the action to a column specified by the user
  • Column Range - Performs the action to a defined range of columns

Note: An Exact Column can also be accessed by targeting it directly.

If this is the first time the workbook was targeted, Nintex RPA LE will attempt to create a workbook connection automatically. (For more information about Microsoft Excel workbook connections, read the Excel Connections article.)

A preview of the target column is displayed along with a button that allows you to modify the column to target , per the Column Options (above).

Select the Get Info Action from the Actions list.

Select the Rules to change the Connection for this Action. Both the Timing  and Error settings for this action may be configured to fine tune the how the Action will run.

Creating a Get Info Action with an Excel Row

  • Current Row - Performs the action to the active row in the workbook
  • Exact Row - Performs the action to a row specified by the user
  • Row Range - Performs the action to a defined range of rows

Note: An Exact Row can also be accessed by targeting it directly. For more information about modifying a target column, read the Understanding Excel Targets section of the Understanding Targets article.

Creating a Get Info Action with an Excel Cell

Drag and drop the Selector onto the Targets list in the target workbook to display the available target options. Continue to drag the Selector to the Cell option, expanding the available Cell Options . Choose the desired cell option:

  • Current Cell - Performs the action to the active cell in the workbook
  • Exact Cell - Performs the action to a cell specified by the user
  • Cell Range - Performs the action to a defined range of cells
  • Named Range - Performs the action to a named range within the workbook

Note: An Exact Cell can also be accessed by targeting it directly.

Creating a Get Info Action with an Emulator Screen

Drag and drop the Selector onto the Targets list onto the target emulator to display the available target options. Continue to drag the Selector to the Screen item, releasing your mouse to display the Target Preview. If this is the first time the emulator has been targeted, Nintex RPA LE will attempt to create an emulator connection automatically. (For more information about Emulator Connections, read the Emulator Connections article.)

A preview of the target is displayed along with a button that allows you to modify the position to target . Select the Get Info Action from the Actions list.

Note: The Get Info Action is only available when using the Screen target option.

Select the Rules to change the Connection for this Action. Both the Timing  and Error settings for this action may be configured to fine tune the how the Action will run.

Creating a Get Info Action with a Web Table

Drag and drop the Selector anywhere on the web table to display the Preview Pane. Modify the target position to interact with the Table by clicking on the button to modify the target . The target preview will display a preview of the entire table that has been targeted. Choose the Get Info Action to display the Action Builder.

Note: The Get Info Action is only available when the Table is selected. To learn more about highlights, read the Understanding Web Tables section in the Understanding Targets article.

 

Select the Rules to modify how Nintex Bot will find the target. Both the Timing  and Error settings for this action may be configured to fine tune the how the Action will run.
