Emulator Keys

Note: The Actions Quick Reference provides a complete list of actions that you can print for easy reference.

The Emulator Keys action allows you to select a key (such as move the cursor or erase a character) that will be sent to the target emulator.  Different keys are available based on the type of emulator that is targeted. When executed, this action sends an emulator function key to the target.

Create an Emulator Keys Action

  1. Drag and drop the Target Selector onto the Targets list on the target emulator.

The available target options are displayed.

  2. Continue to drag the Target Selector to the Current Position and then release your mouse to display the Target Preview. If this is the first time the emulator has been targeted, Nintex RPA LE will attempt to create an emulator connection automatically. For more information, see Emulator Connections.

Note: You can access an exact position by targeting it directly. A preview of the target is displayed, along with a button that allows you to modify the position to target. Select the Home Key from the Actions list.

  3. (Optional) Click the triangle arrow button to the right of the preview to modify the position to target.

  4. From the Actions list, select the Emulator Keys action.

A list of available keys is displayed. The list of keys may be different when different emulators are targeted. To view the mnemonic code associated with each key, click More. If you need to send a specific key to the emulator that is not listed, use the Ascii Gold Key action or Mnemonic Key action.

  5. Click Rules to change the connection for the action.

  6. (Optional) Adjust the timing and error settings to fine tune the how the action will run.

Note: For more information about the timing and error settings, go to Action Builder.

  7. (Optional) Add Notes to the action to document special instructions or functionality.

  8. Click OK to save the action.

If the Run Switch is set to Run, the action will be executed and the emulator function key is sent to the target

Note: The run switch is set to Run by default. To create or modify this action without executing it, click the slider to change the option to Don't Run.  For more information, go to Action Builder.
