Create process from variation

A new standard process can be created from a variation using the Unlink process from variation set option. This option allows users to create a process from a variation automatically, with no need to do anything manually to the variation or process. This works by unlinking the variation from the process and creating a new standard process using the information from when the variation was created.

Note: If a variation is currently pending approval, publish or archive the Unlink process from variation set option is unavailable and cannot be used until the approval is finished. This feature can also be used on archived variations. If this feature is used on an archived variation the new standard process is created as unarchived.

Unlink a variation from a process

  1. Navigate to the process that contains the variation that needs to be a new process.

  2. Select the variation from the variation drop-down.

  3. After the variation opens, click settings and then click Unlink process from variation set.

  4. In the Unlink process dialog box, click Yes.

Important: Any unsaved changes on that variation is not carried over to the new process. If there are still changes that need to be saved, click Cancel and save those changes.

  5. The variation now becomes a process, and the status of the process becomes In Progress.
