Create process from variation
A new standard process can be created from a variation using the Unlink process from variation set option. This option allows users to create a process from a variation automatically, with no need to do anything manually to the variation or process. This works by unlinking the variation from the process and creating a new standard process using the information from when the variation was created.
Unlink a variation from a process
-
Navigate to the process that contains the variation that needs to be a new process.
-
Select the variation from the variation drop-down.
-
After the variation opens, click and then click Unlink process from variation set.
-
In the Unlink process dialog box, click Yes.
Important: Any unsaved changes on that variation is not carried over to the new process. If there are still changes that need to be saved, click Cancel and save those changes.
-
The variation now becomes a process, and the status of the process becomes In Progress.
After a variation is unlinked from a process, you can select the Summary section to view information related to the new process. The process owner is the owner of the process that the variation was originally linked to. The variation expert becomes the process expert.
The Change Log on the original process reflects that the variation has been unlinked and become a new process. The new process that came from the unlinked variation still contains all of its previous logs and also shows when the variation was unlinked from its original process.
