SharePoint and Intranet integration
You can integrate Nintex Process Manager with SharePoint or any Intranet system allowing users to view and search their processes from one environment. This topic describes the SharePoint integration.
Tip: Enable the Admin > Configure > Security > Allow embedding into iframe and SharePoint setting.
- It is recommended to use SharePoint 2013 or later versions for the Nintex Process Manager integration.
- This topic uses steps from SharePoint Online. There might be slight differences in the user interface, terminology used, and steps depending on your SharePoint version. See the SharePoint Help for specific version details.

You can integrate Nintex Process Manager with SharePoint using any of the methods described in the following sections.
Nintex Process Manager widgets can be embedded into your SharePoint site via the Page Viewer web part (or another iframe based component). The URL to use is: https://<Nintex Process Manager site URL>/SharePoint/Widget.aspx? followed by parameters separated by "&".
For example: If your Nintex Process Manager site URL is: https://au.promapp.com/demo, then the URL you must use for SharePoint integration is: https://au.promapp.com/demo/sharepoint/widget.aspx?logo=true¬ifications=true&search=true&recent=true.
- For Modern SharePoint, use the following format: <iframe src="<Nintex Process Manager site URL>/SharePoint/Widget.aspx?</iframe> followed by parameters separated by "&".
For example: If your Nintex Process Manager site URL is: https://au.promapp.com/demo, then the URL you must use for SharePoint integration is: <iframe src="https://au.promapp.com/demo/sharepoint/widget.aspx?logo=true¬ifications=true&search=true&recent=true"></iframe>. -
Based on the web browser you are using, it might not be possible to use an iframe if you are using single sign-on (SSO).
The following table describes the parameters.

Logo=True | Displays the Nintex Process Manager logo at the top so that users know that it is a Nintex Process Manager widget. Clicking on the logo also takes the user to their Nintex Process Manager homepage. |

Tip: Promaster A Nintex Promapp system administrator who administers a Nintex Promapp site and has rights to view and edit all areas of a Nintex Promapp site. privilege required. Go to Admin > Configure > Intranet / Extranet Resources > Promapp Widget and click Copy URL and edit the URL as required.
- Go to your SharePoint site.
- On the top-left of the page, click Site Actions > Edit Page.
- Click Add a Web part and select Media and Content > Page Viewer.
- Click Add.
- In the Page Viewer web part, click open the tool pane.
- In the Link field, type or paste the URL for your Nintex Process ManagerSharePoint integration as described in the example above.

Paste the minimode URL.
- For Modern SharePoint, use the following format: <iframe src="<paste minimode link here>" width="562" height="394" tabindex="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe>
To embed a minimode A permalink to a Nintex Promapp process or document which allows anonymous users to access processes, documents or process groups. link:
- Click Apply and then click Save.
The web part is embedded and displayed on your SharePoint site. You must be logged in to your Nintex Process Manager site to view details.
- In your Nintex Process Manager site, navigate to the process.
- Use the Search box at the top-right of the main navigation bar.
- On the Home Page:
- Use the Search box.
- Click Recently viewed or My favourites.
- Click Processes > All Processes.
- Click Processes > Recently viewed.
Complete one of the following actions:
- On the top-right of the process map page, click > Share Process Link, and copy the link.
- Go to your SharePoint site.
- On the top-left of the page, click Site Actions > Edit Page.
- Click on the Insert tab and then select Link > From Address.
- Type the text to display and paste the link in the Address field.
- Click on the Insert tab and then select Link > From Address.
- Paste this link: https://<au/us/ca/eu>.promapp.com/ClientApp/Content/images/interface/ico/favicon/favicon-16x16.png or https://<au/us/ca/eu>.promapp.com/ClientApp/Content/images/interface/ico/favicon/favicon-32x32.png in the Address field.
- Click OK and then click Save.
The Nintex Process Manager process is displayed when you click on this text link in your SharePoint site.
You can display high level diagrams and processes for a specific department without having to log in to Nintex Process Manager.
- In your Nintex Process Manager site, navigate to the process.
- Use the Search box at the top-right of the main navigation bar.
- On the Home Page:
- Use the Search box.
- Click Recently viewed or My favourites.
- Click Processes > All Processes.
- Click Processes > Recently viewed.
Complete one of the following actions:
- On the top-right of the process map page, click > Share Process Link, and copy the link.
- Go to your SharePoint site.
- On the top-right of the page, click Edit Page.
- In the area on the page you wish to display the process, select the Add a Web part '+' and select the Embed control.
- In the Embed web part, click the pencil icon to open the configuration pane.
- In the Link field, paste the following and replace the 'Minimode URL' with the link you copied in Step 2 of this procedure.

- Go to your SharePoint site.
- Right-click on the document you want to link and click Copy link.
- Go to your Nintex Process Manager site and link the document.
SharePoint Integration FAQs
Ensure that go.promapp.com, au.promapp.com, eu.promapp.com, ca.promapp.com, or us.promapp.com are a part of your browser trusted sites. You might have to contact your IT support to confirm these settings.
The minimode A permalink to a Nintex Promapp process or document which allows anonymous users to access processes, documents or process groups. URLs are different for In Progress version and published processes. Ensure that you use the published process minimode link by clicking View vX.0 next to the process name, where X is the version number. For example: View v3.0.
However, if you are logged in as a user who has access to the In Progress version in the same browser, then you will be able to switch between both versions in the minimode.
For the SharePoint widget to display, verify the following settings.
- For Mac OS versions - Catalina (Safari 13), Mojave (Safari 12), High Sierra (Safari 11): Ensure the Prevent Cross Site Tracking check box is not selected.
- Go to Safari > Preferences > Privacy.
- Clear the Prevent Cross Site Tracking check box.
- For Mac OS Sierra (Safari 10): Ensure the Always Allow option is selected.
- Go to Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies and Website Data.
- Select the Always allow option.
To set up federated search for older versions of SharePoint, you require a root authority certificate. Follow the steps described below to obtain the certificate and convert it to a Privacy Enhanced Mail (PEM) format. If you need assistance, contact support@nintex.com.
To obtain the root authority certificate
- Open your Nintex Process Manager site in a browser.
Note: These steps are applicable for Google Chrome browser.
- Click on the top-left of your browser address bar and then click Certificate (Valid).
- In the Certificate dialog box, click the Certification Path tab.
- Select the certificate and click View Certificate.
- Click on the Details tab > Copy to File.
- Follow the steps in the Certificate Export Wizard to copy the file in DER encoded binary X.509 (.CER) format and save it to your local machine.
To convert the root authority certificate to PEM format
You can use the OpenSSL tool to convert the root authority certificate you downloaded in DER format to PEM format.
