Orchestration variables

The Variables panel displays the variable available in the current orchestration. You can find, search, and insert variables into configurations such as progress conditions and fields that support variables. Use the variables to reference data such as live table data, instance details, and activity details.

Access the orchestration variables panel

  1. Open the Orchestration designer.

  2. On the toolbar, click Variables.

The Variables panel is displayed.

Variables are grouped by source. Select a category on the left to view its available variables. The following variable categories are available for an orchestration.

Variable Type Description When it's available
Tables Live data from the table used in the orchestration. Click the table object to view all the variables it contains. A path is also displayed on top of the list to help you track the variable you selected. Available when a table connection is configured for the orchestration.
Activities

Data from the Activities used within the orchestration. Each activity appears as an object variable. Click the object to view all the variables it contains. The activity variables become available after an activity is configured and can be used in later phases.

Activity variables are created within the activity selected for the orchestration. For more information about creating variables, see Create a variable.

 Available after the activities are configured for orchestration phases.
Instances Data related to the current orchestration instance. Use instance variable to reference auto generated value such as orchestration metadata. Always available.

Search for a variable

Use the search bar at the top of the variables panel to quickly find a variable by name. Search results update as you type.

Insert a variable

You can use orchestration variables in supported fields of the configuration.

  1. Hover over a supported configuration field until +Insert is displayed.

  2. Click +Insert.

  3. Click the variable category you want and select the variable you want to use.

  4. Click Insert.
