Step 2: Start the upgrade
After you identify the workflow you want to upgrade you can start the upgrade.

On the toolbar, click Upgrade. The Upgrade details dialog box is displayed.

Click Upgrade workflow to start upgrading the workflow.
Important: If the workflow has been upgraded to Nintex Workflow prior to this, click Restart upgradeto upgrade it again or click View in Nintex Workflow to view the upgraded workflow in Nintex Workflow.
The upgrade process will take a few minutes to complete. When you start the upgrade the progress status of the upgrade is indicated by the statuses displayed in the Upgrade details.

You can close the dialog box after you start the upgrade while you wait for the upgrade to complete. Simply click on Upgrade on the toolbar to open it again.

Click Refresh to see the latest Upgrade status.
After a draft of the workflow is created in Nintex Workflow, a confirmation message is displayed.

When the workflow is saved in Nintex Workflow if the workflow name has any of the following special characters, they will be replaced with a space because special characters are not allowed in workflow names in Nintex Workflow:
` ! @ ~ / [ ] ^ $ . | * + ( ) \ # % & = { } ' " < > : ; , ?

If the workflow with the same name exists in Nintex Workflow, the <site name> and a <number> is appended to the name when saving the new workflow in Nintex Workflow.

If you come across a situation where many updates are made to the workflow in Nintex for Office 365 after it's upgraded to Nintex Workflow, you can upgrade the workflow again to have the latest version saved in Nintex Workflow.
Another copy of the current version of the workflow is saved in Nintex Workflow. The earlier version of the workflow that was previously upgraded and saved in Nintex Workflow will not be replaced.
If the workflow with the same name exists in Nintex Workflow, the <site name> and a <number> is appended to the name when saving the new workflow in Nintex Workflow.
