Before you start

Before you start upgrading your workflows from Nintex for Office 365 to Nintex Automation Cloud you must do the following:

1. Set up your Nintex Automation Cloud tenant

The first step is to set up the Nintex Automation Cloud you will be upgrading the workflows to. If you don't already have a Nintex Automation Cloud you must first sign up and set up the tenant.

2. Create required connections in Nintex Automation Cloud

For security reasons and protection of the credentials and connections that are stored, the connections in Nintex for Office 365 are not moved to Nintex Automation Cloud when you upgrade workflows. Before upgrading workflows with connector actions, you can create the required connections in Nintex Automation Cloud. After the workflow is upgraded you must select the connections in the action configuration panel.

When the upgraded workflow has SharePoint Online actions and if there is a matching connection in Nintex Automation Cloud, the connection is selected automatically in the configuration of the SharePoint Online actions. The connection used will be the first one that matches the tenant URL and the SharePoint Online connection authentication method. If no connections are found a connection is not selected in the action configuration and you must create and select a new connection.

To create your connections for any connection actions in your Nintex for Office 365 workflows:

  1. In Nintex for Office 365, open the Connections page. For information, see Connections in Nintex for Office 365.

  2. Review the connections used in your workflows and identify the connections you have to create in Nintex Automation Cloud for the workflows you want to upgrade.

  3. Create the connections in Nintex Automation Cloud. For information about creating connections, see Manage connections.

3. Integrate the SharePoint Online tenant to the Nintex Automation Cloud tenant

Before you can start upgrading workflows you must integrate the SharePoint Online to Nintex Automation Cloud. This integration can be done through the Integration feature available under Settings. You can create a new integration to integrate a SharePoint Online tenant, site or site collection with the Nintex Automation Cloud tenant.

Important: The Allow user to select Nintex Workflow for Office 365 option must be selected when creating the Integration to upgrade workflows.

For more information about creating an integration, see this article in Nintex Community.
