Text - Long

Field name displayed on the published form.

Switch toggle to Yes to enable customization of the variable Name of the form control.

(This field becomes configurable only when you switch the Customize toggle to Yes.)

Customizes the name of the variable A placeholder that stores changes each time the workflow runs, such as the information entered in a form, or the name of a file. You can also create variables to store information you use in the workflow, such as an email address. for the field. If the name is not customized, the Title will be used as the variable name.

The value that automatically populates the field when the form loads.

Click in this field, and then click Insert to launch the Formula builder where you can create variables with applied formulas. The calculated value becomes the default value.

The text formatting available in this field depends on the option selected in the Text format field.

When Plain text is selected only plain text formatting is allowed.

When Rich text is selected as the Text format, the rich text editor becomes available in the Default value field to allow rich formatting of text entered in the this field. For information about the options available, see Rich text editor toolbar options.

Text formatting that the field can accept. Available options:

• Plain text
• Rich text: The rich text editor allows rich formatting of text. Accepts bold, italic, hyperlinks, alignments. When you select Rich text, the rich text editor becomes available in the Default value field as well.

The following options in the rich text editor are only available to form designers and are available only in the Label, Group, and Repeating section controls. They are not available for participants using the Text-long control.

Format	Paragraph Format	Apply different heading sizes to the selected text: Normal Headings 1 to 6
	Left	Align the selected text to the left.
	Center	Center the selected text.
	Right	Align the selected text to the right.
	Justify	Distribute text evenly between left and right margins of the label control.
	Link	Add a hyperlink to selected text. When you click the Link button, the Rich text editor window presents two additional fields relating to the hyperlink: URL and Text. Type the URL and amend the Text, if necessary. Click OK to confirm the hyperlink for the text.
	Unlink	Remove a hyperlink. The unlink button becomes available after you click a hyperlink in the Header text or Rich text editor window.
	Full Screen	Display the field and toolbar buttons in a larger dialog box with additional toolbar buttons available.
	Outdent List Item	(Available only in larger dialog box) Decrease indentation for the selected list items.
	Indent List Item	(Available only in larger dialog box) Increase indentation for the selected list items.
	Insert Horizontal Line	(Available only in larger dialog box) Adds a horizontal line below typed text and adds a new paragraph.
	Table	Opens Table Properties dialog to select properties to add a table.
	Image	Insert a URL to an image you want to use in the text.
	HTML	Converts the selected text into HTML code.

(Displays when you select Plain text)

The maximum number of characters you want to allow in the field. If unspecified, there is no limit to the number of characters allowed in the field.

Size of the field relative to the size of the published form:

• Small
• Medium
• Large

Enables or disables the automatic adjustment of the field height when the number of characters entered exceeds its original size in the form.

Mandates entry of a value before the form can be submitted.

(Displays when you select Yes in Required)

The text which displays below the field when a value is not entered into the field upon change form page or on form submit.

Shows the field on the published form when loaded.

Displays the field on the published form but does not allow user input.

Default text displayed in the field on the published form. This default text disappears when the user types the first valid character inside the field.

A description of the field to display below the field on the published form.

The message which appears when users hover their cursor or touch the information icon beside the Text - Long control in the form.

Border color to apply to the field.

To select a color, click the color box and use the color picker to specify the color you want. You can click on the color map to select the color or enter the Hex code.

To revert back to the global style, click Reset to global style.
