Nintex Foxtrot RPA

Nintex Foxtrot RPA is a robotic process automation technology that uses robots or 'bots' to complete repetitive analytical tasks and processes. For more information about Nintex Foxtrot RPA, see the Nintex Foxtrot RPA help documentation.

The Nintex Foxtrot RPA connector A software component that allows seamless integration with third-party services, business applications, and content stores. Examples include Salesforce, Box, and Microsoft SharePoint. Connectors are used to create connections required for workflow actions and start events. is used to create connections for the Nintex Foxtrot RPA - Start an RPA botflow action.

Nintex Workflow communicates with Nintex RPA Central via Nintex Gateway. Nintex Gateway is an on-premises application that enables Nintex Workflow to access on-premises resources, such as Nintex RPA Central. Before you begin, download, install, and configure Nintex Gateway on your on-premises domain computer or server.

Nintex Gateway is an on-premises application that allows Nintex Workflow to access on-premises resources, such as Nintex RPA Central, Nintex RPA, Microsoft SQL Server on-premises, SharePoint on-premises, and local web services.

After you install Nintex Gateway, you can:

You must install Nintex Gateway on your on-premises computer or server before you can create a Nintex Foxtrot RPA, Nintex RPA, Microsoft SQL Server on-premises, SharePoint on-premises, or Web Services on-premises connection.

Before you install Nintex Gateway, contact your IT administrator to verify that the following URLs are accessible via HTTPS (port 443) from the on-premises computer or server where you will install Nintex Gateway:

  • *.workflowcloud.com
  • The configuration app needs access to:
    • *.nintex.io
      • This is actually for <region>.nintex.io, so you can be more specific with eu.nintex.io if your tenant is in the EU.
      • gbo-cli-vib.nintex.io is also used for some resources on the authentication page.
    • auth.nintexcloud.com (for authentication).
  • The windows service needs access to
    • *.workflowcloud.com
    •  *.nintex.io
      • Or more specific, <region>.nintex.io as above.
    • A websocket connection to *.servicebus.windows.net.
      • This can also be more specific per region, for example gwyprd01rlyneu01.servicebus.windows.net

Note: You can also download Nintex Gateway from Product Releases. Nintex customer registration is required to use the Product Releases download page.

  1. Go to Integrations.
  2. Click Create connection and select Workflow.
  3. In the Connector field, select Nintex Foxtrot RPA, Nintex RPA, Microsoft SQL Server on-premises, SharePoint on-premises, or Web Services on-premises.
  4. Click Download and save the MSI file to any location that you can access for installation.
  5. Run the Nintex Gateway installer MSI file.

    The Nintex Gateway Setup Wizard opens.

  6. Click Next.
  7. Read the Nintex Master Subscription Agreement and select I accept the terms in the License Agreement.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Select the install location and click Next.
  10. Click Install.
  11. Click Finish.

Next, configure the Nintex Gateway on your on-premises resource.

  1. Open the Nintex Gateway application.
  2. Type your Nintex Workflow tenant name.
  3. Nintex Gateway validates your Nintex Workflow tenant name. Click Start Gateway.

    4. Note: You must be in the administrator role in Nintex Workflow to start Nintex Gateway. See User management.

  4. The Nintex Workflow sign in screen displays. Sign into Nintex Workflow.

    5. Nintex Gateway starts and connects to Nintex Workflow.

Note: You must install Nintex Gateway on your on-premises computer or server before you can create a Nintex Foxtrot RPA connection.

  1. Go to Integrations.
  2. Click Create connection and select Workflow.
  3. In the Connector field, select Nintex Foxtrot RPA from the drop-down list.
  4. Click Connect.

  5. In the new window that appears, type a user-friendly Connection name.

  6. Type your Nintex RPA Central URL, e.g., https://smithjohn1.acme.com/.

    Note: Nintex RPA Central must be bound to a security certificate with a URL. It cannot be set to https://localhost.

  7. Type your Windows Domain\Username.
  8. Type your Windows domain user Password.
  9. Select your Nintex Gateway.

  10. Click Connect.

  11. Follow the prompts to enter credentials and grant access to Nintex Workflow.

    Your new connection appears on the Connections page.
