QR Code Generator - Generate QR code action fields and settings
Section | Field | Description | Variable types |
---|---|---|---|
(unlabeled) |
Text to store within the QR code | The text to store within the QR code. The minimum number of characters is 1. The maximum depends on the error correction level but generally 900 characters should work. The best practice is that the fewer characters, the better. Since many older cell phones have problems with QR codes greater than version 4, you should use as little data as possible. QR Code Generator suggests using URL shorteners like Bitly or Cutt.ly for very long URLs. However, industrial scanners should have no problems regarding complex QR codes. |

Size in pixels |
Select the size of the QR code image you want to generate in px. The default is 200x200px. You cannot use a variable for this field.
|
None. | |
Error correction level | Defines the error correction code (ECC) which determines the degree of data redundancy. The more data redundancy exists, the more data can be restored if a QR code is damaged (for example scratches on a QR code sticker or something similar). The best practice is to set this to Low. A higher ECC results in more data to save and thus leads to a QR code with more data pixels and a larger data matrix. Because many cell phone readers have problems with QR codes greater than version 4 (that means a matrix of 33×33), the lowest ECC is the best choice for common purpose – legacy QR code readers are more common than damaged QR codes. |
