Software Requirements and Prerequisites by component

This topic describes the minimum software requirements per product and per product component/machine role in a topology.

For updated and additional information on integration and compatibility of the product with other technologies, please refer to the Product Compatibility, Integration and Support Matrix.

For reference information on the Windows Server Roles and Features expected in your environment when installing the product, see the topic Windows Server Roles and Features.
  • The product supports IPv4 and IPv6. The product will operate as expected on environments where IPv6 is the only IP configuration
  • All machines running the product components (for example, Server and websites) require TLS 1.2. Although TLS 1.3 can exist on these machines in addition to TLS 1.2, the product does not use TLS 1.3.
    The product will not operate as expected in environments where TLS 1.3 is the only configuration enabled.

Server Components

The table below lists the software/feature prerequisites or minimum requirements for server components (for example the Server and Site components) in a topology.

If necessary, you can force the product to run at the latest supported version of the .NET Framework in your environment. For more information see the Microsoft article: Version Compatibility in the .NET Framework. Find the <supportedRuntime> elements mentioned in the article, in the K2HostServer.exe.config file in your product installation folder, typically: %PROGRAMFILES%\K2\Host Server\Bin.

  • Internet Simple Mail Transfer Protocal/Post Office Protocal 3 (SMTP/POP3)

Microsoft Exchange
If Microsoft Exchange 2013 is being used, Windows Powershell 3.0 or later and WinRM (Windows Remote Management) are required, both of which are part of the Windows Management Framework:

  • The product supports only one SharePoint on-premises farm per environment.

The corresponding version of the product must be installed on a server that is reachable from this machine. For improved performance it is recommended to install the Nintex Designer Site on the same physical machine as the application server, see Improving Performance.
Runtime Site Required Supported version of Microsoft Windows Server
Internet Information Services (IIS) 8 or 10
 Supported version of Microsoft .NET Framework.
The corresponding version of the product must be installed on a server that is reachable from this machine. For improved performance it is recommended to install the Runtime Site on the same physical machine as the application server, see Improving Performance.
