This topic describes the selections on the Add content database page accessed from Central Administration.
| Selection | Description |
|---|---|
| Database Server | Name of the database server containing the new or existing database that you want to use as the content database. |
| Database Name | Name of the new or existing database that you want to use as the content database. |
| Connect to an existing database | When selected, uses an existing database. When cleared, creates a new database. |
| Database authentication |
Select one of the following options.

| Failover server | Failover Database Server: Name of the database server to use for failover. |
| Service account access | Grant service account access: When Yes is selected, grants access to all content web application service accounts. When No is selected, web applications do not have access to the content database until access is granted using the Web Application activation page. |
