Using Nintex RPA Migration Tool

  1. Open Nintex RPA Migration Tool located at:

    [InstallFolder]\Nintex\Services\Migration Tool 64bit\LeoScriptsMigrationTool.exe

  2. Select the following migration settings (recommended):

    Selection

    Functionality

    Migrate Main version

By default, Nintex RPA Studio saves the latest 3 versions of each published/saved wizard. By version, we mean a specific wizard publication. When selecting to migrate main version, the latest wizard publication in use is migrated to the upgraded RPA version. In this case, it is to 22.3.1.

    Migrate Old version

By default, Nintex RPA Studio saves the latest 3 versions each published/saved wizard. By version, we mean a specific wizard publication. When selecting to migrate old version, the latest 3 wizard publications (from the database) are migrated to the upgraded RPA version. In this case, it is to 22.3.1.

Note: migrating older versions of a wizard publication takes significantly longer time to complete - depending on the wizard.

    Enforce Migration

Enforce the migration despite minor errors such as "wizard already exist" (as in already have been migrated).

    Migrate to Queue Manager

If you are upgrading from any previous version to v21.4.x, you need to select this option to allow the migration tool to map the existing Robots fields in the wizards ACs (particularly, in the "Add Automation Task to Queue" Advanced Command") to the relevant Queues.

Read more about this selection and how it works.

If you are upgrading from v21.4 to a later version, there is no need to select this option.

    Upload to Database

There is an option to migrate WITHOUT saving to database. This is usually done for testing purposes such as logs and errors review.

Note: Un-selecting this option doesn’t allow you to open and run the wizards.

Selecting this option ensures uploading the data to the database and saving it.

    Use Multitasking (optional)

Select this option if you have significantly large amount of wizards and data to migrate and if your server machine (same machine as where the database is) has several cores and processors. This option speeds up the migration process significantly if configured correctly using Nintex Support.

You can multiply the number of wizards migrated at a single time and make things work faster. On 8 cores you can run 4 processes at the same time. Keep in mind that the Migration Tool works directly with the database which means it requires a direct connection and high-quality connectivity.

  3. Do not select any other option that isn't mentioned in this guide.

  4. Due to the load of data processing that takes place when migrating, the server machine might mistakenly identify the process as an attack on the server and block the migration. Therefore, you need to allow the migration security wise before triggering it:

    1. Open the appSetting.config Studio file ({InstallationFolder}\Nintex\Nintex Studio Server\ MainService\Config\appSettings.config)

    2. Look for the parameter FloodAttackShield and make sure its value is set to False (default).

  5. If your current version is 19.3 or below, see Encrypt the Credentials Vault as you might be required to enable this option as well.

  6. Select the Libraries/Wizards you want to migrate from the left menu bar.

  7. Click Start to run the migration and allow the process to complete.
