When using the K2 Designer for SharePoint it is important to take note of the following important considerations:
When accessing the K2 Designer for SharePoint the user will have to be added to either the specified K2 Designer for SharePoint security group or the Owner of the list or Site Collection Admin or in the Members group within SharePoint. In the K2 Settings screen a group that should be used as the Workflow Designer security group can be specified. If this group is not specified the K2 Designer for SharePoint will verify whether the current user is part of the standard Members group in SharePoint before opening the K2 Designer for SharePoint.
An integrated workflow is always attached to a SharePoint List or Library. The SharePoint Site must have at least one List or Library configured before a workflow is created.
When the Copy Document Wizard is used to copy a document to a library where the same document already exists, the existing document will be overwritten.
When the Move Document Wizard is used to move a document to a library where the same document already exists, the existing document will be overwritten.
In the Context Browser the following items cannot be used:
When using SharePoint Groups it is important to assign Group Permissions such as Full Control, Design or Contribute to the Group in order to view the SharePoint Group in the Context Browser.
All steps created from the Templates menu will require a participant user, while steps created from the Wizards Menu will not require participant users.
It is important to consider the logic of the workflow when using the Move Document, Delete Document and Delete List Item Wizards. After having one of these steps the relevant items would have been moved or deleted and adding a client step after these steps will lead to an error as they will not exist in the Document Library or List anymore.
My Sites cannot be used with SharePoint Workflow Integration features. You will not be able to activate the features to a site of type=MySite.
K2 Designer for SharePoint must be used in Internet Explorer (32 bit) as Silverlight is not supported in Internet Explorer (64 bit).
When a SharePoint site is extended it is necessary to ”Activate All K2 Features and K2 Configuration Settings” on the main site in Central Administration>K2 for SharePoint to ensure that the K2 Features are applied to the extended sites.
K2 Designer for SharePoint can be run in SharePoint Server 2013. However, SharePoint 2013 must be run in SharePoint 2010 compatibility mode in order for K2 Designer for SharePoint to function correctly.
