Personal access token

Create a personal access token to authenticate and access your data using OData client tools such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power BI Desktop, and Postman.

Important: 
  • You can create only one personal access token and it cannot be viewed once you close the dialog box. You must copy and store the personal access token securely.
  • You can regenerate the personal access token if required. The currently active personal access token will expire immediately and any OData API calls made using the expired personal access token will fail.
  • You can delete and create a new personal access token if required.
  • The personal access token is valid for one year.

Create a personal access token

Follow these steps to create the personal access token:

  1. On the upper-right of the Nintex Insights workspace home page, click Settings.
  2. Click Personal access token in the side navigation menu.
  3. In the Personal access token section, click Add token.
  4. Click Copy token and store the personal access token in a secure location.
  5. Caution: The personal access token cannot be viewed again after you close the dialog box. The personal access token is valid for one year.

  6. Click Close. The Personal access token is created and displayed in the list. The following details for the personal access token are displayed: Status, Created on, and Expires. The Add token button is disabled.

You can now use the personal access token to authenticate and access your data using OData client tools such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power BI Desktop, and Postman. For more information, see the following topics:

Regenerate a personal access token

You can regenerate the personal access token.

Important: 
  • The currently active personal access token will expire immediately when you regenerate the personal access token.
  • Any OData API calls made using the expired personal access token will fail.
  • If you have used the personal access token for accessing your data using OData client tools, you must replace the personal access token with the new regenerated personal access token.

Follow these steps to regenerate the personal access token

  1. In Nintex Insights, go to Settings > Personal access token.
  2. In the Personal access token section, click . > Regenerate. The personal access token is regenerated and displayed.
  3. Click Copy token and store the personal access token in a secure location.
  4. Caution: The personal access token cannot be viewed once you close the dialog box. The personal access token is valid for one year.

  5. Click Close. The following details for the personal access token are displayed: Status, Created on, and Expires.

Delete a personal access token

You can delete the personal access token and add a new personal access token if required.

Important: 
  • The currently active personal access token will expire immediately when you delete the personal access token.
  • Any OData API calls made using the expired personal access token will fail.
  • If you have used the personal access token for accessing your data using OData client tools, you must create a new personal access token and replace the expired personal access token.

Follow these steps to delete the personal access token

  1. In Nintex Insights, go to Settings > Personal access token.
  2. In the Personal access token section, click . > Delete.
  3. In the Delete access token dialog box, click Delete to confirm.

The personal access token is deleted and the Add token button is enabled.
