Set next state

Use the Set next state actionA tool for building the processes, logic, and direction within workflows. to instruct the parent State machine action which state it should run next. You can redirect workflows back and forth between stages or exit the State machine using the Set next state action.

  • The Set next state action must be used inside a State machine action.
  • A Set next state action is automatically added to every state defined within the parent State Machine action.

Before you start 

Add and configure the Set next state action

  1. Click the Logic and Flow action group in the action toolbox.


    Type the action name or function in the Search field at the top of the action toolbox.

  2. Drag the Set next state action to the designer canvas.
  3. Do one of the following to open the Action configuration window:

    • Double-click the action.
    • Click on the action and then click Configure.

  4. Select the state to run next in Set next state.
  5. Click Save.
