Getting Familiar with the Form Designer

The layout screen consists of five sections:

1. Category tree - Folders containing Views to be used when designing the Form.
2. Toolbar - Provides a list of toolbar options which can be used in customizing the Form.
3. Design Canvas - Provides a blank canvas for designing a Form.
4. Context and Controls - The Controls tab includes common user interface controls such as Button and Label. The Context tab provides context to the Form, for example which Views are linked to the Form.
5. Properties and Rules - The properties of the controls or Views and Rules applicable to the Views or Controls. These can be edited.

Toolbar

 The toolbar on the Form Layout screen provides the functionality to add, edit, and remove cells, tables, rows, tabs, Views etc.

Toolbar Options

Feature	Icon	Description
View Add		Adds a View to the canvas
View Edit		Opens the View Designer for editing
View Remove		Removes the View from the canvas
Tab Add		Adds another tab on the Form
Tab Rename		Highlights the tab name to enable editing
Tab Remove		Removes the current tab
Move tab to the left		Moves the tab to the position on the left
Move tab to the right		Moves the tab to the position on the right
Set the layout row oriented		Sets the layout row oriented
Set the layout column oriented		Sets the layout row oriented
Clear Table		Clears the table
Clear Row		Clears the row
Clear Cell		Clears the cell
Insert Column to the Left		Inserts a column to the left of the current cell
Insert Column to the Right		Inserts a column to the right of the current cell
Insert Row above		Inserts a row above the current cell
Insert Row Below		Inserts a row below the current cell
Remove Column		Removes the column
Remove Row		Removes the row
Merge Cell to the Right		Merges the current cell with the one on the right
Merge Cell Below		Merges the current cell with the one below
Left Align		Aligns the content of the cell to the left
Center Align		Aligns the content of the cell in the center
Right Align		Aligns the content of the cell to the right
Top Align		Aligns the content of the cell to the top
Middle Align		Aligns the content of the cell in the middle
Bottom Align		Aligns the content of the cell to the bottom

Design Canvas

The user can drag and drop a table, Views or controls onto the design canvas.

Context and Controls

The Controls tab includes common user interface controls such as Button and Label. The Context tab provides context to the Form, for example which Views are linked to the Form.

Properties and Rules

The Properties tab includes control properties , View properties and Form properties. Select a View or control or click on the blank canvas to see the specific properties related to the item. The Rules tab shows rules that are applicable to the selected View or control. Additional rules can be created.
