Within Nintex Workflow, OpenAI ChatGPT is used as a Bring Your Own Model (BYOM) connector A software component that allows seamless integration with third-party services, business applications, and content stores. Examples include Salesforce, Box, and Microsoft SharePoint. Connectors are used to create connections required for workflow actions and start events.. BYOM allows you to connect your own AI model using your own API key.
The BYOM connector enables the OpenAI ChatGPT - Generate Text action. You can use your own API key to submit free-text input and receive high-quality, safety-focused output from OpenAI ChatGPT directly within your workflow.
Create an OpenAI ChatGPT connection
Note: Your browser-stored credentials are accessed to create connections. Either clear credentials from browser memory or make sure the stored credentials are for the intended environment.
Create a connection from the connections page or from the action configuration panel when configuring the action. For information about creating connections and assigning permissions, see Manage connections.
In the Connection settings section, complete the fields as follows.

| Connection name | A user-friendly name for your new connection. |
| API Key | A generated key a user with a valid account obtains from OpenAI ChatGPT. OpenAI ChatGPT uses API keys to authenticate access to its models. Different keys can have different access permissions. Before using the OpenAI ChatGPT connector, make sure the API key has been configured for the correct access level in OpenAI ChatGPT. Once the connection is created, you can configure the OpenAI ChatGPT - Generate text action.
