SharePoint Online - Create a site collection

Use the SharePoint Online - Create a site collection action A tool for building the processes, logic, and direction within workflows. to create a site collection in a specified SharePoint Online admin tenant URL.

For example, you can use this action to automate creation of site collections as part of a project registration process. The relevant teams may request site collections when they receive funding for new projects.

Configure the SharePoint Online - Create a site collection action

Important: Before inserting variables in the action configuration, you must manually type or select the values and populate other dependent fields in order to retrieve the output data. Once configured, you can insert variables to the required fields.

  1. Add the action to the workflow and open the action configuration panel. For more information, see Add an action to the workflow.

  1. Select a SharePoint Online Connection. If you do not have a connection, see Add a connection.

    Note: Only the connections created with the Site Collection Administration authentication method are available in the drop-down. For more information about authentication methods for SharePoint Online connections, see Authentication methods for SharePoint Online connections.

  1. Type a Home page title for the collection site.
  2. Select the URL path prefix.
  3. Example: https://tenant.sharepoint.com/sites/ or https://tenant.sharepoint.com/teams/

  1. Type the URL path site collection name. The URL name will be appended to the URL path.
  1. Select the Language for the site collection.
  2. Select a Template.
  3. Select a Time zone.
  4. For Administrator email address, type the email address of the user account for the primary site collection administrator.
  5. For Storage quota in gigabytes, specify the number of gigabytes (GB) you want to allocate to this site collection.
  6. For Server resource quota, specify the amount of resources you want to allocate to the site collection.
