The Box - Add comment to file action A tool for building the processes, logic, and direction within workflows. Actions are the steps the workflow performs to complete a process. adds a comment to a file’s Activity panel in your web version of your Box account.

You can view a file’s comments in Box online by clicking the comment / task icon next to the file name. Comments appear in the Activity panel of the open file.

Configure the Box - Add comment to a file action

1. Add the action to the workflow and open the action configuration panel. For more information, see Add an action to the workflow.

2. Select a Connection. If you do not have a connection, see Add a connection.
3. Select how to find the source file in Box in Select a Source type.
4. Specify the File path or File ID:

   • File path: Specify the file path of the file you want. You can select a variable or type a file path. You can also browse the folder structure using the browse icon ().

   • File ID: The ID of the file.

5. Type the Comment you want the action to add to the file.

Maintain path integrity

Caution: If a file/folder that's used in a workflow is moved, renamed, or deleted, any workflows that use that file/folder will not start or will fail. Make sure you keep the paths in your workflow configurations up to date.
