Salesforce Chatter post link

Nintex external platform is required for this feature. For details, see Enable Nintex external platform features.

Posts a link to Salesforce Chatter. Use this action to make a post to share information and collaborate with other people across your organization.

Action settings

Following are the fields and options visible in the configuration settings dialog box for this action.

Field Description

Connection

Select a Salesforce connection.

For more information about connections, see Manage connections to external providers.

ClosedManual authorization for older workflows

Older workflows created with manual authorization, such as those retained during upgrades, continue to require manual authorization. For these workflows, the following fields are available.

  • Username:

    • Specify the Salesforce username.

  • Password:

    • Specify the Salesforce password.

  • Security token: 

    Specify the Salesforce security token.

    Note: For more information on security tokens, refer to the following topic in Salesforce online help: "Resetting Your Security Token."

Link URL

Specify the URL of the website to be posted to the feed. Maximum character count: 1000.
Link name

Specify a name for the link. Maximum character count: 255.

If no link name is specified, the preview shows the title or name of the site. For example, if no link name is specified and the link URL is https://www.nintex.com/en-US/Pages/default.aspx, then www.nintex.com is shown as the link name.
Message

Specify a message or comment about the file. Maximum: 5000 characters.
Recipient

Specify the recipient of the post.

  • Followers: The post will appear on the followers' feed.
  • Group: The post will appear on the members' feed.
  • User: The post will appear on the user's feed.
Group name / User's email address

If Group is selected as the recipient, specify the group name. If User is selected as the recipient, specify the user's email address. If Followers is selected as the recipient, leave blank.

Output

Store output for this action using the following selections.

  • Post successful: 

    Specify a Yes/No variable to store whether or not the operation was successful. Returns "Yes" for a successful operation.

  • Post ID: 

    Specify a text variable to store the ID of the post.

  • Post URL: 

    Specify a text variable to store the URL of the post.

ClosedHow to add and remove output variables

Depending on action requirements, you may be able to add and remove output variables.

To add an output variable

  1. Select an option from the Select more drop-down list.
  2. Click Add to display a drop-down list for the selected option.
  3. Select a previously defined workflow variable from the drop-down list.

To remove an output variable

  • Click Delete ().

    Note: Some output variables cannot be deleted. For example, the output variable URL for the action Bing news search cannot be deleted.
