Create reusable workflow templates

This topic describes how to view and create reusable workflow templates as well as add templates to content types, lists, and libraries.

Reusable workflow templates can be created for use within a single site or an entire site collection.

To view reusable workflow templates, do one of the following

  • For site-wide templates: Click the settings icon () on the upper right, select Nintex Workflow, and then select Create reusable workflow template under Reusable workflow templates.
  • For site collection-wide templates: Click the settings icon () on the upper right, select Nintex Workflow, and then select Manage reusable workflow templates under Reusable workflow templates.

    The Workflow Inventory page appears, with a list limited to reusable workflow templates for the selected scope. For more information about this page, see Workflow Inventory page.

To create a reusable workflow template (site or site collection)

  1. Do one of the following.
    • For a site-wide template: Click the settings icon () on the upper right, select Nintex Workflow, and then select Create reusable workflow template under Reusable workflow templates.
    • For a site collection-wide template: Click the settings icon () on the upper right, select Nintex Workflow, and then select Manage reusable workflow templates under Reusable workflow templates.

    The Nintex Workflow designer appears with the Set Title & Description dialog box.

  2. In the Set Title and Description dialog box, specify a title and optionally specify a description and content type, then click Save to save changes and close the dialog box.

  3. Create the workflow, save, and publish.

To add a reusable workflow template to a content type, list, or library

  1. Navigate to the Settings page for the content type, list, or library.
  2. On the Settings page, click Workflow Settings.
  3. On the Workflow Settings page, click Add a workflow.
  4. On the Add a Workflow page, under Workflow, select the reusable workflow template.
  5. Update other settings as needed and then click OK.
