Using the Barcode Scanning Control

The Barcode control allows you to capture barcodes and QR codes in a form when using the K2 Workspace for Android app. This control must be configured with rules that handle the events and data captured using the control. For information on configuring the control see Barcode Control.

The Barcode control is only available in a form and there is no other way to access it in the app.

Tapping the control on the form activates the camera. To capture the barcode or QR code, position it within the camera’s view. Tap the Flash icon on the top right to enable your device's flash. The barcode or QR code is scanned and converted to a number which is then stored by the form. You can cancel the scan by tapping the Back button on your device toreturn to the form without capturing the barcode or QR code.

K2 uses device-specific libraries to interpret barcodes, so the ability to read different formats depends on the formats that the device’s barcode libraries understand. See Barcode API Overview for Android devices.
