Create with K2 Studio

This content applies to legacy design tools (such as K2 Studio, K2 for Visual Studio, or the Silverlight-based K2 workflow design tool). If you have upgraded from K2 blackpearl 4.7 to K2 Five, these tools may still be available in your environment. These legacy tools may not be available in new installations of K2 Five. These legacy tools may also not be available, supported, or behave as described, in future updates or versions of K2. Please see the legacy component support policy for more information about support for these components.

K2 Studio is an installable design environment that is familiar and easy to use. Some of the features of K2 Studio include:

K2 Toolbox : Providing access to K2 components and wizards
Visual Process Designer : An design canvas for visually modeling workflows and business applications along with SmartObjects

K2 Studio is used to create data definitions (SmartObjects) and business logic applications (workflows) using K2 Wizards to automate processes that need data from business systems along with human decision points.

Create A New Project

Clicking on the New button from the File tab will open the new K2 Project, K2 Process and K2 SmartObject dialogue screen. The image below shows the default K2 Project creation dialogue:

K2 Project

The K2 Project is the container for one or more processes and SmartObjects. Once the project has been created, you can add additional processes to the project. If you have more than one process as part of a single project, you can switch between the processes by clicking the process name in the Solution Explorer.

To create a project with a project item already included in the project (such as a project with a process or a project with a SmartObject), select the K2 Process or K2 SmartObject option found under the K2 Types option.

Item Name

Once you have selected the process type, browse to the location where you want to save the project and enter the name of the project in the Project text box, thenclick Create.

Item	Description
K2 Type	Base project which can contain multiple process types.
K2 Templates	The K2 Templates for the K2 Type selected. The template options will change according to the K2 Type
Name	The user defined name for the project which will contain the process items associated with it.
Location	The location (i.e. local machine hard drive) where the project folders will be saved.
