Running a K2 Standby Server Within the Same Environment
The following section provides the recommended steps for implementing a multi-node instance of a K2 farm. Be aware of K2 licensing when running multiple farm nodes.
Recommended Procedure:
- Create a two-node farm for the K2 server in which Node 1 has the active license and Node 2 is the standby server.
- Once the farm has been set up, turn off Node 2 (standby node) to adhere to the K2 licensing terms.
- Plan for failover by using load balancing technology or another approach involving a technology that supports TCP heartbeat checking. See the topic on Network Load Balancing for additional information.
- In the event of Node 1 failing, launch the K2 Server service on Node 2 (standby server) and redirect all traffic to second node.
- Once Node 1 (primary server) has been restored, the K2 Server service on Node 2 (standby server) must be shutdown.
