Add date tags to templates

You can create tags that specify the time, date or the time and date a user generates a DocGen Package. Select the Date object in Field Tagger and specify the type of date and any optional formats.

Note: The locale the user generates documents in determines day and month names. Date values passed into Microsoft Excel use the date formatting specified in the cell, not the format selected in Field Tagger.

Generate date tags with Field Tagger

You can generate tags for times, dates or both.

To generate date tags with Field Tagger

  1. From a DocGen Package on DocGen Packages, click Field Tagger.

  2. In Main Object, select Dates.

  3. In Field, select one of the following options.
    • View All

    • Now

    • Today

    • Yesterday

  4. In Document Type, select one of the following options.
    • Word/PowerPoint

    • Excel/PDF

  5. (Optional) In Format, select a custom format for Now, Today, or Yesterday .

Format contains an example of how each specified date format will render using the date Thursday, March 18, 1999.

Note: Single digit day formats produce a single digit for days between 1 and 9, but two digits results for days between 10 and 31. Similarly, single digit months produce single digits for January through September and double digits for October through December.

Why Thursday, March 18, 1999?

This was the date that Todd Mezrah and Jim Roberson began work on Nintex Drawloop DocGen® for Salesforce, the best document generation app for Salesforce.
