Add the DocGen Lightning Component to page layouts

Add the DocGen Lightning Component to page layouts. End users using the Lightning Experience can generate documents from the Lightning Experience using the  DocGen Lightning Component.

The DocGen Lightning Component doesn't support every feature. For more information, see Supported features.

Add the DocGen Lightning Component to page layouts

From the Lightning Experience, you add the DocGen Lightning Component to the page layout of the object from which you want end users to generate documents.

Note: Your organization must use the Salesforce My Domain feature to deploy the DocGen Lightning Component. You need My Domain to run custom Lightning Components. Salesforce hosts the DNS records for your My Domain, and it can take up to three minutes to activate. For more information, see My Domain.

To add the DocGen Lightning Component to page layouts

  1. From an object from which you want end users to generate documents, select a record.

  2. In the upper right, click (Setup gear) and click Edit Page.

  3. In the Lightning App Builder, from Custom - Managed, drag DocGen onto the page.

  4. (Optional) In the component properties, type a custom name or enable the DocGen Lightning Component to start expanded, so that your end users don't have to open the component to begin generating documents.

Tip:  To access the component properties, select the DocGen Lightning Component after you've placed it on the page.

  5. Click Save.

With DocGen Lightning Component in place, users can generate documents from Lightning.

Note: To make the DocGen Lightning Component available to your Lightning Experience users, you must activate the page. You can activate the page from the Save dialog when you save it for the first time, or later using the Activation button.
