Nintex for Office 365 terms, defined.

    A
  • A tool for building the processes, logic, and direction within workflows. Actions are the steps the workflow performs to complete a process.
  • In Microsoft Teams, an app can be a tab, connector, or bots.

  • Beacons are used to capture specific data in your workflow to pass to Nintex Insights for analytic purposes

  • Nintex for Office 365 can be used to call web services, such as REST, and retrieve and log list item information, such as titles.
  • In Microsoft Teams, a channel is a category-based collaboration space inside a team created for a specific purpose. It is a dedicated section within a team to keep conversations organized by specific topics.
  • A variable containing multiple items, such as email addresses. Collection variables are useful for storing and operating on query results. For example, you can set up collection variables for names, email addresses, and index values to store results from querying a list. You can then loop through items in a particular collection variable (names, emails, or index values).
  • Credentials and other settings required to pass data between the workflow and the indicated service, which could be a cloud service, business application, or content store.
  • A workflow action that performs a basic operation through a connected system.

  • Centralized locations used to house servers used by Nintex for remote storage, processing, or distribution of data. Nintex has a number of regional data centers available for Nintex for Office 365. For information about Nintex data centers and where your data center is located, contact your Nintex account or territory manager.
  • A sequence of one or more characters used to specify the boundary between separate, independent regions in plain text or other data streams.
  • A group of name-value pairs. A dictionary variable is a container for a logical unit of variables. Multiple data types can be contained in a single dictionary variable.

  • The workflows, actions, and forms allowed per subscription license. A single workflow-based subscription license can be used across multiple environments.
  • F
  • A form part corresponding to a user-input field (such as a text field) or display-only item (such as a heading).
  • I
  • Configuration setting to display the variable on the start form. A variable configured to display on the start form is known as a "start variable." A start form is displayed when manually starting a workflow that contains one or more "start variables." The start form prompts the workflow initiator to provide values for these variables.
  • Initiation options control the display and behavior of the variable on the start form that is displayed when a workflow is started manually.

  • Operators AND and OR that are used to connect conditions or filters within the following workflow actions: Conditional Branch, Filter, Loop with Condition, Run if, Query List.
  • Retrieve data from a column within a SharePoint list and display at run time. For example, the action Send an Email allows you to set the subject line to the value of a selected list. or library column.
  • N
  • Nintex service that facilities single-sign on capabilities across the Nintex platform, allowing users have one username and password to access multiple Nintex products.
  • License file (.nlf) for server licensing. A license file stores information about all servers that are licensed by Nintex for Nintex Workflow, Nintex Forms and Nintex Live.
  • A hosted service on the Azure cloud platform that securely extends the integrated capabilities of Nintex Workflow and Nintex Mobile. With Nintex Live, designers can build more powerful workflows by including third-party service providers, such as Dropbox or Google.
  • Workflow action that uses the Nintex Live service. Connects to an internet-based application exposing web service APIs for public or contracted consumption. Examples: Google Drive download file, Dropbox query files.
  • Manage and handle authentication, data transfer, and storage for Nintex Workflow. Nintex Live services uses Azure cloud storage to help protect your workflow data.
  • Provides offline access to Nintex forms with no requirements for browsers or SharePoint site credentials. Using Nintex Mobile apps, customers and employees can connect, consume, and submit forms, tasks, and attachments. Nintex Mobile apps are available on all major mobile platforms.
  • A permalink to a Nintex Process Manager process or document that allows anonymous users to access processes, documents or process groups.
  • Cloud service broker that provides message queue management and a services catalog (Nintex Store).
  • P
  • A particular portion in a workflow containing actions with a specific purpose to send data to Nintex Analytics. A process stage is always identified by a start (Nintex Analytics- Beginning beacon action) and an ending (Nintex Analytics - Ending beacon action) point.
  • Q
  • Receives service requests and places them in a queue before they are executed. Queuing the service means that in the event that a cloud service is unavailable, Nintex Live holds the request and continues retrying until the service is available again. This prevents workflows from failing due to intermittent service availability.
  • R
  • A workflow reference which is used to construct content containing information specific to the list or library item and to the current instance of the workflow.
  • A sequence of characters that define a search pattern. Usually this pattern is used for "find" or "find and replace" operations on text, or input validation.
  • S
  • Customer relationship product. Provides companies with an interface for case management and task management, and a system for automatically routing and escalating important events.
  • SendGrid provides a cloud-based email delivery service that assists businesses with email delivery. It allows you to send email without having to maintain email servers by managing all of the technical details, from scaling the infrastructure to ISP outreach and reputation monitoring to whitelist services and real time analytics.
  • Internet-based application (for example, Dropbox or Google) that exposes a web service API for public or contracted consumption. Nintex Live considers brokered services to be the service provider, even though they may pass the service request along to the actual service provider.
  • A form that starts a workflow.
  • Options to select how a list workflow can be started. A list workflow can be configured to start manually, when items are created, or when items are modified.
  • The designer can manually start workflows when the manual start option is configured for the workflow. Workflows can also be configured to start automatically when a list or library item is created or modified.

  • Variable to store data for referencing in actions within the workflow. Variables are available in several data types, such as number, string, and text.
  • V
  • A placeholder that stores changes each time the workflow runs, such as the information entered in a form, or the name of a file. You can also create variables to store information you use in a workflow, such as an email address.
  • W
  • A method of streamlining manual and paper-based processes often comprised of unstructured tasks involving people, processes, and content.
  • Variable to store a value when the workflow starts. Set up as a start variable.
  • Transitioning one or many workflows from one Nintex platform to another.
  • Variable to store a value on completion of the workflow. Set up as a user-defined variable.
  • Variable to store a value or file on completion of the workflow.
  • Endpoint for calling a workflow.

  • An extensibility framework for Nintex Workflow, which allows you to create custom connectors to third-party platforms in your workflows.
