Delegating workflow tasks
You can use several service operations in the Workflow web service to either immediately delegate tasks from one approver to another, or use delegation rules to automatically delegate tasks for an approver, in Nintex Workflow 2013.
Delegating tasks immediately
You can use the following service operations to delegate tasks, either one at a time or all at once, from one approver to another:
-
Delegates all workflow tasks from one user to another user. This service operation can be used in an administrative capacity, so that all tasks for a given user can be delegated to another user by an administrator.
-
Delegates a single workflow task from the current user to a user. This service operation can be used in a personal capacity, so that a single task can be delegated from the current user to another user.
Using delegation rules
You can manage delegation rules, which automatically delegate tasks to other approvers when a task is initially assigned, by using the following service operations:
-
Adds a delegation rule.
-
Deletes a delegation rule.
Considerations
Delegation rules can used only if the Allow long term task delegations global setting is set to Yes. If the setting is sent to No, an error occurs when the AddLongTermDelegationRule and DeleteLongTermDelegationRule service operations are invoked.
Delegation rules are applied only when a task is initially assigned to an approver. If a task is explicitly reassigned, either manually or by the Delegate workflow task workflow action, the task is assigned to the specified user even if that user has defined an applicable delegation rule.
