Process states
Editing a process never changes a published version. Instead, it creates a new draft based on the published version. When that draft is published, its contents replace the previous published version and become the next major version.
A process goes through the following states as part of its lifecycle:
|
Process state |
Action |
Next state |
|---|---|---|
| Unfiled draft | Move the unfiled process draft into a folder | Draft in a folder, governed by the folder access permissions. |
| Draft in a folder | Publish | Published. |
| Published | Edit | The new draft at the next major version. The published version stays live. |
| New draft | Publish | Published, replacing the previous published process version. |
| Published | Archive | Archived. See Archive processes. |
| Archived | Restore | Published. See Archive processes. |
| Archived | Permanently delete | Permanently deleted, not recoverable. See Archive processes. |
